Nestled amongst the vineyards of the Dordogne countryside, CHÂTEAU DE SAINTE CROIX provided the perfect backdrop for this beautifully considered editorial captured by photographer PATTIE FELLOWES. Conceived by Angélique of SHADES WAVES and brought to life with florals by POESIE D’UN JOUR, the creative vision explored how atmosphere, intention and thoughtful design can shape a wedding experience that feels both deeply personal and effortlessly elegant.
Surrounded by rolling countryside and producing its own wines, the château carries a natural sense of authenticity. Rather than competing with the setting, the design embraced its quiet beauty, allowing the architecture and landscape to guide every creative decision.

A Palette Inspired by the Landscape
Soft tones of peach, beige, muted green and dusty rose were woven throughout the editorial, creating a palette that felt refined yet welcoming. The colours softened the château’s historic architecture while allowing natural light to become an important part of the overall aesthetic.
Every element felt intentionally restrained, creating a sense of calm sophistication. The result was a visual story that felt timeless rather than trend-driven, proving that understated details can often leave the strongest impression.
Sculptural Florals with Presence
One of the most striking aspects of the design was the floral installation created by POESIE D’UN JOUR. Taking a sculptural approach, the florals focused on verticality and movement, introducing height and rhythm without overwhelming the space. Positioned at table level, the arrangements created a dynamic visual experience while maintaining intimacy between guests. The effect was architectural yet organic, bringing a sense of structure while still feeling soft and romantic. Throughout the château, florals worked in harmony with the surroundings, enhancing rather than dominating the historic setting.

Thoughtful Details and Guest Experiences
The stationery echoed the spirit of the château through a restrained and elegant design approach. Every piece felt cohesive with the overall aesthetic, contributing to a visual language that carried seamlessly throughout the day. A standout feature was the innovative cocktail wall, which transformed a practical wedding element into an immersive guest experience. More than simply serving drinks, it became an interactive installation that encouraged guests to engage with the design itself.
This philosophy extended to the seating plan, which was thoughtfully integrated into the overall concept rather than treated as a separate functional detail. Together, these elements demonstrated how every aspect of a celebration can contribute to a unified atmosphere.

An Elegant Dinner Setting
As guests gathered for dinner, the celebration moved into the château’s entrance hall. Set beside the sweeping staircase and grand piano, the space struck a beautiful balance between grandeur and intimacy.
Candlelight, florals and carefully layered textures softened the historic interiors, creating an inviting setting where conversation and connection naturally took centre stage. The combination of architectural character and thoughtful styling resulted in a dining experience that felt both elevated and welcoming.

A Cinematic Evening Celebration
As daylight faded, the celebration transitioned outdoors to the poolside. The atmosphere became more relaxed while maintaining the editorial’s sense of refinement.
A sculptural cake installation served as the focal point of the evening, creating a striking visual moment against the château backdrop. Reflections across the water and the soft evening light added a cinematic quality that beautifully concluded the story.
Complementing the setting were gowns by DEMETRIOS and HERVÉ MOREAU whose designs balanced classic elegance with contemporary sophistication. Together they reflected the editorial’s central theme of timelessness interpreted through a modern lens.
Through thoughtful planning, sculptural florals and an unwavering focus on atmosphere, this editorial offers a beautiful study in modern romanticism. Captured with PATTIE FELLOWES‘ signature eye for detail and emotion, it demonstrates how intentional design can transform a wedding celebration into an experience that lingers long after the final toast.
