I’m a little obsessed with this Pacific Northwest elopement by RYAN FLYNN that features in Issue 11 of MAGNOLIA ROUGE MAGAZINE which is now ONLINE for you to see in full! I love the idea of choosing a secluded spot surrounding my nature to say your vows. It’s so incredibly special and intimate, and I think it allows you to really focus on the true meaning of getting married. Carolyn & Dan were “searching for a location that felt like the edge of the world” and they’ve certainly achieved that and then some!

Sheltering from the pouring rain beneath a thick canopy of trees, and surrounded by views of seastacks, lush greenery and the teal waters of Cape Flattery, the northwesternmost point of the contiguous United States, is where Carolyn and Dan found themselves exchanging words of love and commitment. The couple, who were initially drawn together by an interest in surfing the California coasts, drew inspiration for their ceremony site from their time there, had agreed on an elopement early on in their relationship, and five years later said their vows unencumbered by outside distractions and demands, focused only on one another and the majesty of their location. Inspired by their location, Carolyn wore a simple custom Grecian-style ivory gown, and carried a beautiful organic bouquet.

While a missed ferry and lost dinner reservations for their wedding meal might challenge anyone’s patience, they proved no obstacle to this couple, who instead explored the lovely port town and shared a delicious pizza and beer – their first adventure as newlyweds. “now we look back on it with giggles,” Carolyn says.
