Modern & intimate summer wedding in the Viennese Alps with only twenty guests

Before intimate weddings were 'all the rage', Ines & Jörg held a small and cosy wedding in the most beautiful setting amidst the Viennese Alps (literally one of my favourite places on the planet!). Captured by KATJA SCHERLE, the stunning venue SCHLOSS WARTHOLZ is nestled between the aforementioned Alps, in between old Imperial villas and beautiful Art nouveau buildings, where a hundred years ago painters, writers, musicians went to get inspired and breathe in the fresh mountain air. And this is where the couple celebrated with a perfectly modern and intimate summer wedding. Working with wedding planner and stylist Viktoria of LOVELY WEDDINGS – who helped them honour the beauty of the venue – this modern design loving duo wanted to be surrounded by lush countryside for their special day. “We knew we wanted to keep things small and intimate, so we invited our closest family members and friends. We thought it was the best way to enjoy a wonderful time with each guest and we would do it exactly the same way over again“, the couple say. Seeking exactly the serene and awe-inspiring landscape and gorgeous architecture those artists were looking for back in the day, they invited only 25 of their nearest and dearest to come enjoy the sun filled August day. The bride says: “In order to create a calm and relaxed atmosphere, from the beginning we wanted to get married outside the city of Vienna. We wished for a romantic, stylish ambience in the middle of nature.” And Viktoria delivered just that: “I wanted to create a natural feeling, to blend in with the castle’s park and the old trees there. The couple wanted something whimsical, delicate yet still timeless. I added in light textures and natural Bohemian elements to delicately counterbalance the beautiful old architecture” she tells us.

The couple got ready at the lovely Art Nouveau inspired VILLA ANTOINETTE, perched up high on a mountain. Ravishing Ines was the perfect modern boho princess, opting for layers upon layers of tulle but a simple summery lace top. She carried a luscious bouquet by talented floral designer HANA HOLDENER tied with silk ribbons by SEIDENBAND.

The whole day was framed by an abundance of seasonal summer flowers in green, blush and cream, with gold accents speckled in. A sublime first dance surrounded by sparklers sent the couple off into what can only be described as a magical summer night, at the foot of the mighty, friendly mountains. To the bride and groom, the most emotional aspect was their first look: “The most emotional moment was definitely the First Look – the moment we saw each other for the first time, it was as if time stood still. Very intimate minutes between the two of us. All the tension and excitement we had before was literally flown by. That was the moment we first became aware that we're getting married now – the best feeling ever, because it felt so damn right.
