Capitalising on the beautiful landscapes around them in the Okanagan Valley, Amy & Gordon went about planning an elegant outdoor wedding at BOTTEGA FARM INN that was as fun as it was romantic. Thanks to a great deal of help from a ééòcrafty’ sister-in-law, they put together a lot of the wedding details themselves, all of which has been beautifully captured on film by JENNA HILL with a gorgeous film (scroll to the bottom) by JODY HILL.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: We were on our way home from visiting Banff National Park, when Gordon started driving in the opposite direction of home. He pulled into a helicopter pad and a private Helicopter took us for a tour of the park and set down in the mountains. We walk out onto the glacier. He gets down on one knee… the rest is history.

TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS: I went shopping about six months before my wedding. My dad drove myself, my mom and sister-in-law down to the lower mainland to visit a couple stores. The first store we went to (Lisa’s Bridal) in New Westminster, when I tried on my third dress, my dad cried. I was pretty certain that was my dress, but I still had another appointment later that day at Bisou Bridal in Vancouver that I was looking forward to. After the appointment at Bisou, and I didn’t have the same feeling about a dress there, I went back for the original dress at Lisa’s. Once again my dad cried when he saw me in it, and I knew it was the one.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: I wanted the flowers to be natural looking, soft, romantic, and unique; which is exactly what they were, with my accent colour of soft pink.

FAVOURITE DETAIL OF THE DAY: Torn between my wedding cake and photo booth – the wedding cake was so beautiful and really summed up the theme of the wedding. I also loved having the photo booth, so I could send out the photo booth pictures to my guests in their thank you card (it was like a reminder of the wedding 6 months after that everyone loved).

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? Wedding ceremony ééò walking down the aisle with my dad with everyone we loved all there for us and seeing their faces tear up as I walked down the aisle. I also had a friend officiate the wedding which made it even more special.

ANY OTHER DETAILS THAT HELP TELL THE STORY OF YOUR DAY: We also had a traditional Asian tea ceremony with our family in the morning of our wedding, as my husband has a Chinese background. It was my first experience at a tea ceremony, and I was featured, so it was a little scary and I definitely held the tea wrong the first time, but I was glad we were able to honour his heritage.
