Both coming from families with farming backgrounds, Nelia & Rodney were inspired by their venue, MAKOJALO OP STAL when it came to styling their wedding day. This beautiful South African wedding by GENEVIEVE FUNDARO is the perfect example of simple timeless elegance. A fresh green and white cascade bouquet added a modern touch.
HOW DID YOU MEET? One Saturday I was doing groceries shopping. This guy recognized me from our church and introduced himself. I honestly knew I was going to marry him. We got to know each other in church after that day.
TELL US ABOUT THE PROPOSAL: The proposal was not really romantic. My husband had put the ring in my champagne glass on New Year’s Eve and I did not see it at all. Finally when my glass was empty my husband’s nerves were shattered and he told me to look in the glass and he went down on one knee.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS: I went to a few places for a wedding dress. Each place I went to the gowns was in the normal (expensive) price range but they felt of such low quality fabrics. They also did not compliment my body. I found ELISABETH STOCKENSTROM through a cousin. When I walked into her studio and touched her gowns I just knew I had to wear one of them. She designed and made a dress for me.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?Relax on the day!! Be organized and take enough time to plan and to do all of the preparations before the wedding day. Everything on that day must be organised.
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? Standing at the pulpit with my husband to be.
