Not even a case a hives days before her wedding could stop beautiful bride Elle from marrying David! When it came to planning the couple focused a lot on their ceremony – they felt that was the most important element and they wanted to ensure it was personal to them. Holding it at Breakfast Point Community Hall, just 20 minutes outside of the Sydney CBD, offered them the perfect setting, and it’s big white doors made a great impact when they were flung open and the processional began. “It looked like a church without being a church and was beautifully white and also a life saver from the morning rain on the day!

Sydney Wedding Photographer PICTURES & HEARTS was on hand to capture this beautiful celebration which finished up at DECKHOUSE – a Woolwich venue which was like their own private party house on the water.

HOW DID YOU MEET? We met through friends at a music festival but it definitely wasn’t love at first sight.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: David proposed in Disneyworld in Orlando with a Mickey ears embroidered with ‘Will you marry me’ on the back! He snuck off so many times without me knowing to have the hat ready to propose after the fireworks in front of the castle. It was one of the most magical and surreal nights.

TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS: I wanted something feminine, classic and ethereal and Monique Lhuillier does just that! Her designs really accentuate femininity with clean lines that don’t overwhelm the body. I really loved that my dress hugged all the right places and had just enough to style with a crown and jewellery.

ANY DIY ELEMENTS? My maid of honour made my veil! So blessed that she’s great with her hands and it was made with so much love and care.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: Our wedding flowers was inspired by Fine Art Flowers – super generous, unstructured and wild! The girl’s bouquets were white and popped against their blush mismatched dresses.  My bouquet was a mix of different roses from peonies to David Austens in shades of white and blush;  finished off with strands of floor length silk ribbon from Frou Frou Chic to compliment the girl’s dresses.

FAVOURITE DETAIL OF THE DAY: Our cake! I love cake decorating and wanted our cake to reflect the cake decor I loved – blush ombre paint with gold drips styled with flowers.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OUT TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Do a First Look! At first, we were really reluctant to do a first look. We initially felt that it would ruin ‘bride walking down the aisle’ moment. But we were oh so wrong and so thankful that our photographer made our First Look so special and captured moments that were one of our very favourites. It was a special moment to have with just each other alone and we think that’s so important for such a busy day.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? Our first look and ceremony were the most memorable. Everything was perfect and even the rain in the morning didn’t ruin the mood. When I entered the hall with my dad, the room was lit with sunlight from the sun pouring through the open doors. That  moment really did make me feel ethereal!

ANY OTHER DETAILS THAT HELP TELL THE STORY OF YOUR DAY? Not only did we love each other we also love home cooking and great food. We felt that home made favours best show our personalities as a couple so we gave our guests a taste of American food! We made New York’s famous restaurant Eleven Madison’s house granola and Cheese Cake Factory’s Salted Caramel in jars for our guests to enjoy.

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD CHANGE OR DO DIFFERENTLY? I would not have had that seaweed body wrap the Sunday before the wedding! I had an allergic reaction and ended up with a terrible case of hives all over my body and face and landed myself in hospital. Thankfully, it disappeared the day before our wedding day and my family stepped in to help finish my last minute tasks. I was so happy to see my future husband, parents and siblings in the kitchen all helping me make my favours. Nothing could stop us not e
ven hives!
