A bridal portrait session is an opportunity to have some one-on-one time with your photographer and to practice some posing and walking in your dress - kinda like a super fun test run for the big day and a good way to ensure all the components of your bridal look come together. Seattle wedding photographer JANET LIN captured Amy in her beautiful RIME ARODAKY and LULY YANG gowns.

Janet tells us, "I love bridal sessions because I get to photograph my sweet brides when they are feeling perhaps the most beautiful they’ve ever felt, but without all the commotion of the actual wedding day going on around them. It’s a really special opportunity to focus on and capture the bride and all of the beautiful details in an environment that is truly all about her and commemorating this once-in-a-lifetime season she is in.

Not only does a bridal session allow the bride to just feel incredibly special and pampered, I actually feel like a bridal session takes some of the stress out of the wedding day for my brides, too. Here’s why; they get a practice run! Often for a bridal portrait session, the bride will schedule a hair and make-up trial, get into her wedding dress, and even utilise a replica of her planned bridal bouquet. This takes all the guess-work out of how things will turn out on the wedding day; she already knows things will run smoothly, because she was able to practice with her team and make any needed refinements at that time.

While bridal sessions most commonly happen before the wedding day, I do frequently have brides choose to schedule their session for a month or two after the wedding day, too. This is especially true if they want to select an adventurous location for their session, like the beach or a mountaintop where your dress is more likely to become dirty.

Whether you schedule a bridal session before or after your wedding day, these sessions are designed to be a dedicated time to creatively and intentionally photograph the bride above and beyond what the wedding day timeline allows for. You will never regret making the most of this sweet season of life1

For Amy's bridal session, we incorporated the same full-length hand-painted backdrop that was custom made for her Monet-inspired wedding day. The studio setting allowed us to capture all the beautiful intricacies of her gown in the editorial style that she so desired. Then we set out for our next destination, the stunning MONET VINEYARDS, to create some photographs with more of a European flair!"

A huge thank you to Seattle wedding photographer JANET LIN for sharing this gorgeous bridal shoot with us. Janet is a fine-art wedding photographer based in Seattle, Washington and serving destinations worldwide. She grew up in the dark room of her father's photography studio, watching people's memories come to life in images through a seemingly magical process. With a passion for loving people, learning their stories, and documenting human connection, the decision to pursue photography was an easy one. Janet's goal is to capture the true essence and spirit of a moment, creating timeless wedding images that will serve as cherished artefacts of your marriage. On a wedding day she strives to balance a quiet documentary approach with an artistic and editorial perspective. You can see more of her work in her portfolio here.
