There are few places in the Rocky Mountains as spectacular as Telluride. SCHMID RANCH is nine hundred pristine acres of raw Colorado wilderness at the base of Mt. Wilson and dream spot for weddings. The ranch has been in continuous operation by the family since 1882 and plays host to destination weddings, events and film shoots as a way of honouring their long history in this mountain community. RACHEL HAVEL worked with florist BARE ROOT FLORA and stylist POLISHED FUN to put together this modern mountain wedding inspiration.

The stylist tells us, "It was nothing short of an incredible fall day on this perfect patch of land where we set our scene. We wanted to create a modern, organic tableau that felt fresh yet still timeless and elegant-a sort of Ralph Lauren meets Town & Country feel that celebrated a modern mountain aesthetic. We created the look around a darker, dramatic fall colour palette of deep burgundies and brick reds with hints of blush and denim blue.

We kept the styling on our bride clean and classic. Her HAYLEY PAIGE gown from ANNA BE BRIDAL was elegant and timeless but we loved the bold edge that the transparent lace detail gave the look. We wanted the bouquet to stand in deep contrast to the gown and played up the darker, moodier tones of our palette. Gorgeous dahlia, plum foliage, roses, chocolate cosmos, deep navy privet berries and smokebush gave the bouquet depth and texture. We finished the handle with silk ribbon and soft leather.

We designed our table to reflect our organic sensibilities. A honed-marble table with rustic barn wood legs from T. Karn Imports in Telluride was set with rustic cutting board chargers, matte black dinner plates, and a beautifully curved bone-white bowl. Turkish towels in a soft grey and cream made for a gorgeous napkin. A stunning paper suite in black from INK & ROOT finished off the look.

A lush centerpiece from BARE ROOT FLORA underscored the organic look we were going for. Dahlia, smokebush, roses, chocolate cosmos, pomegranates, navy privet, bay leaf and other gorgeous textures gave this piece tremendous depth and interest and married beautifully with the natural surroundings."
