The inspiration for Carly and Matthew's southern pastels wedding began with the garden feel of WAVERING PLACE. The cozy open air pavilion and stunning sailcloth tent amongst the green grounds made for the perfect canvas to create Carly's dream wedding day. Captured by South Carolina wedding photographer SOULSHINE PHOTOGRAPHY, the lush grounds of the property and variety of blooms brought the floral design to life with an array of whites, pinks, blues, purples, and peaches to play off the garden-inspired design. Florals crafted by BECCA ZORN DESIGNS were overflowing in meadows on the cake table, historic oak tree and classic bars to bring through the garden elements. Opposite the stunning array of colors in the florals were the neutral sage and cream tablecloths, chairs, and structural pieces. The cream and white floral linens from BBJ LA TAVOLA spoke volumes to the overall design, bringing a touch of patterned elegance to the foundational natural aesthetic.
Every detail of Carly and Matthew's day reflected their relationship and personalities – soft, sweet, and sophisticated. The both recently graduated from the University of South Carolina's medical school and matched in Charlotte's medical center surgical and pediatric residencies. With nothing but bright futures ahead, this destination wedding brought family and friends from all over the country to celebrate Dr. and Dr. O'Brien. The bride wore classic BELLA BELLE SHOES with a pearled bow to carry through the motif from the sage bows flowing from each ceremony chair. Just past the elegant fountain entryway to Wavering Place boasts a beautiful oak tree tucked away in a garden of lush greens and vibrant florals. Carly and Matthew shared their intimate first look in these gardens while reading private vows to one another. Following their vows, they snuck through the garden gate to the historic WAVERING PLACE home to meet their bridal party brewing love and excitement for the ceremony and reception to come.
As the evening unfolded, the rain stayed away leaving the perfect clouds for this dreamy wedding day. The bride and groom said I do under the stunning oak tree in front of the historic home with beige scalloped umbrellas covering the guests. Cocktail hour boasted stunning florals and al fresco seating surrounding the classic sailcloth tent with delicious libations and hor's d'ouevres. Bringing one of Carly's favorite elements to life was the amazing Soulution Band, who had all their family and friends on their feet dancing the night away under a stunning 5-piece floral dance floor installation.
South Carolina wedding photographer SOULSHINE PHOTOGRAPHY is a valued member of our vendor collective. Working alongside her husband James, she is a hybrid photographer, mother, wife, daughter and friend based out of the Carolina's. "Photographing and filming weddings has become a passion for me as I am truly blessed to serve so many couples and families. Art in any form has deeply moved my soul, but I was unsure of what medium to express my personal art through.
My couples feel at ease in front of my camera and truly get to enjoy their wedding day. Our style is soft, true to colour, emotive imagery. We desire to go above the status quo in each of our relationships with our couples, and therefore we take a limited number of weddings in order to serve well."
