Although they went to high school together it wasn’t until years later that Anna & Alex ran into each other at a bar and love blossomed. Fast forward and they were planning this stunning farm-to-table celebration in the bride’s parents house in Fairfax, Texas. Anna tells us, ééòI had always wanted to get married there and I had no doubts about it. So we basically worked around that. They have a gorgeous four acres that the house, barn, and gazebo sit on, and then they also own a lot next door, which is another four acres. So we were going to do the ceremony and cocktail hour in the backyard, then move to the lot next door for a tented reception. That was the plan, of course, before we had record-breaking rain for the months leading up to the wedding!ééò Not that you’d know it looking at these beautiful images by CHARLA STOREYééò the colours literally leap off the page!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: Alex proposed with a family heirloom ring that his grandfather had proposed to his grandmother with 60 years ago. We were laying in bed one morning when my phone beeped with a text message, from Alex (who was right next to me) saying ééòwhere is the ring?ééò he had accidentally sent it to me instead of his mom! he quickly grabbed the phone and deleted the message but not before I saw it. I pretended not to, so I wouldn’t ruin the surprise. Well, weeks went by with nothing, and I was convinced I had mis-read the message or he had changed his mind. We went out to dinner one night and on the way home I gave him a hard time about how he hadn’t asked me yet. Turns out, he had the ring in his pocket the whole time and when we pulled up in the drive way, he just pulled me out of the car and got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him!

TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS: It was really fun! I scheduled two appointments at different Dallas shops, and took my mom, my sister (and MOH) and two of my bridesmaids! We went to one place and had so much fun trying them on, then we had lunch at The Mermaid Bar before going to Bridal Couture of Addison. I tried on a dress or two there and very quickly fell in love with one! it was so easy, and I just KNEW it was the one. Mainly because I had a veil that two of my aunts had worn that was so beautiful, and I really wanted to wear that. The veil was cathedral length and pretty ornate, so I knew I needed something more simple, and that’s exactly what I got!

FAVOURITE DETAIL OF THE DAY: After weeks and weeks of rain, it finally stopped on that day, and the sun shone down where I had always dreamt of getting married. That night when we went back to our hotel a little before midnight, the skies opened up and it started pouring again. It was like God had decided that we could have the ceremony outside, but also gave us rain for good luck!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OUT TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Have fun, enjoy every moment, and don’t get too caught up in the details, cause at the end of the day, the small things don’t even matter.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? My most memorable moment was definitely kissing my man as husband and wife for the first time while all our friends and family cheered!

ANY OTHER DETAILS THAT HELP TELL THE STORY OF YOUR DAY: I loved the laid back feel of the wedding. We had flip flops for people to kick off their shoes, and served some southern cooking family-style. We had macaroni and cheese, chicken fried steak, bread, green beans, etc. I also thought that the cigar bar was really neat. My husband doesn’t love cakes and cookies, but he loves a good cigar!

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: With farm-to-table being the overall inspiration, we wanted to keep things very organic and natural, yet incorporate vibrant colors as a nod to our outgoing personalities. With the wedding being in the prime season for growing plants and blooming flowers, we really had cream of the crop selection blooms.
