The bride, an architect by trade, has an affinity for classical architecture, so she worked with planner LINDSEY BOYCE to incorporate elements of classicism into her wedding design. LINDSEY led the couple to the perfect spot: historic St. Peter’s, a little Lowcountry chapel in the classic revival style. The simplicity and elegance of this site combined with the fragrant blooming jasmine made Beaufort the perfect location for their spring wedding and Charleston wedding photographer ANNE RHETT captivated their day with her usual charming style.
On the weekend of Katie and Nick's wedding, all of Beaufort was in bloom! The bride carried a classic petite bouquet of Lily of the Valley, the same as her grandmother. The couple drove from Utah to Beaufort to make sure their precious Bracco Italiano dog, Lady Bird, could be present for the festivities, and they shared a moment just after pronounced newlyweds! From St. Peter’s, the wedding party recessed together in a second line march led by horns from the Church to the reception.
Classical elements carried over into the reception: a classic Greek key motif was incorporated into the design of the save the date and the invitation, then echoed on the menu cards. Additionally, the open air reception tent featured ivory draping and a dramatic Greek Key valance.
A Degournay mural inspired the spring green and blue colour palette as well as the design of the cake. Jasmine season was in full bloom, and the full, fragrant hedges surrounding the tent created the perfect aromatic backdrop for an al fresco dinner as well as a gorgeous arbor to frame the bar. French ticking stripe linens, upholstery featuring the greek key, rattan accents, lush green and white floral with pops of citrus, and floral motif napkins rounded out the overall place setting. As a gift to the couple, the father and brother of the bride constructed the custom latticework band backdrop.
