A celebration of the wild-spirited bride and the poetry of the nature of love, this shoot was initiated, designed and styled by Laura from LOVE JUNE WEDDINGS. Titled ‘Pagan Poetry’ it was captured by PETRA VEIKKOLA at MUSTION LINNA amidst the raw earth, stone and historical castle surroundings. It was inspired by Björk, the earth element, the passing of time and the beloved verses by Pablo Neruda:
“I love you as certain dark things are loved
Secretly, between the shadow and the soul
I love you like the plant that never blooms
And carries within itself, hidden, the light of flowers
And thanks to your love, darkly in my body
Lives the dense fragrance that rises from the earth”
Every detail of the shoot, from the antique furniture to the hand-picked vintage items sourced across Europe, was created to portray a primal, regal love that weathers time and the elements: a yin and yang of the solid and dark and the delicate and light.
Laura tells us, “Moody and sensual with a nod to timeless and luxurious vintage, the bride becomes one with the earth surrounding her as she awaits her immortal beloved. The element of earth is present in all aspects of the shoot: the unruly surroundings and rich textures, the hand-carved wood, the plant-dyed silks, the textured paper, the patina on the vintage cutlery and items and the walnut ink. The wild florals and the bride’s crown of flowers themselves embody the unruly nature that she reigns. Within the classic styling, created with one of a kind heirloom items, lies the essence of the shoot as put by Icelandic singer Björk: ‘On the surface simplicity, but the darkest pit in me is pagan poetry’.”
