Modern elegance meets Asian Heritage at a French Chateau

This striking editorial blends Asian heritage with modern elegance at Chateau de Nainville-les-Roches. The shoot featured a traditional tea ceremony, red “hongbao” envelopes and ikebana-inspired florals, celebrating cultural fusion through sophisticated, high-end design.

Photographer AUDE LUCAS with planner and designer Elisa Ly of ROMANCE WEDDING PARIS envisioned a wedding styled shoot that beautifully blends their shared Asian heritage with a modern, high-end aesthetic. The aim was to resonate with Asian clients seeking meaningful cultural representations in their weddings, as well as with couples inspired by the fusion of rich traditions and contemporary elegance.

The setting of the shoot at CHÂTEAU DE NAINVILLE-LES-ROCHES, a picturesque estate near Paris, served as an ideal backdrop that harmoniously juxtaposed classic Western grandeur with touches of Asian tradition. By incorporating elements such as a traditional tea ceremony, red “hongbao” envelopes, and other Asian-inspired motifs, the team crafted an environment that celebrated cultural hybridity—blending the essence of East and West seamlessly.

CAKES BY MERI provided a unique wedding cake that embodied both innovation and tradition. The cake’s original asymmetrical, square structure was adorned with delicate Chinese cloud motifs, marrying contemporary design with traditional symbolism.

THE FLORALS

The floral arrangements, artfully designed by VERONIQUE LORRE, paid homage to the auspicious color red, symbolizing prosperity and happiness in Asian culture. The loose and asymmetrical shapes of the arrangements drew inspiration from ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, adding an air of minimalist elegance to the overall composition. to the traditional color of red, while the shapes of their compositions are loosely-composed and remind of the Japanese art of ikebana.

THE STATIONERY

The Stationery by KURNIAWAN HO WIJAYA, an Indonesian artist, added a further dimension of artful cultural integration. Each bespoke piece—menus, invitations, and place markers—combined Western painting techniques with intricate Asian paper folding. The bold colors and layered shapes reflected the theme of “Asian Exuberance” and symbolized the wealth of culture being celebrated.

THE FASHION

Every detail in this project, from the TONY WARD gowns paired with an Indonesian RENEE COUTURE cheongsam, to the dual-natured jewelry and the floral-patterned sun umbrella, embodied this blend of worlds. The Wedgewood teapot, featuring patterns reminiscent of Zhou dynasty bronze antiques, underscored the reverence for heritage. Captured through fashion-forward photography and poses, this styled shoot presented a modern vision of wedding imagery that respects and elevates cultural roots.
