Rustic farm weddings remain one of my all time favourites and this beautiful wedding of Caroline and Abraham’s is no exception, especially given they had Leah Kua there to take such deliciously pretty images! With it’s beautiful gardens, a vineyard and lots of old farm buildings Belgenny Farm offered the couple the perfect outdoor rustic venue they were looking for.
How and/or where did you meet? We went to the same school and met in year 8 and became great friends; it wasn’t until year 10 that we started dating after Abe finally plucked up the courage to ask me on a date.
Tell us about your proposal: Abe had just finished Uni so we wanted to go away to celebrate. Abe organised a weekend away to the Hunter Valley where we went on a hot air balloon ride to watch the sunrise, followed by a champagne breakfast and a walk through the Hunter Valley gardens. We then went to a secluded part of the gardens where Abe got down on one knee and proposed to me. I had no idea that it was going to happen, but everyone else did!
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I went with 2 of my bridesmaids to a local bridal store and had a horrible experience, I was starting to feel a bit disheartened but then decided to try another store. The sales assistant suggested some dresses to try on, one of which was a different style then what I was looking for. When I tried it on, my bridesmaids and I fell in love with it, after a few tears, I left a deposit.
Any DIY/Budget elements? I made my own brooch bouquet with brooches that I asked my guests to bring along for at my kitchen tea. We also decorated all the jars for the table flowers as well as some other elements, such as a repurposed farm window which contained a welcome message for our guests.
Describe your wedding flowers: The bridesmaids carried bouquets of hydrangeas with some small white roses and a large succulent at the front, the boys all had a succulent and white roses for their buttonholes and I wore a flower crown with lots of greenery and white roses throughout it.
Favourite detail of the day: The smiles and laughs of all our guests.
Anything other details that help tell the story of your day: As my dad had passed away a year earlier we honoured him by having a small picture of him on my bouquet, Abe wore one of his old bow ties and we both had a shiny sixpence in our shoes that he had given us at our engagement party. For our reception we had a Lebanese drummer to pay tribute to Abe’s Lebanese heritage.
