When Emily and Alex’s original wedding was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID it was big disappointment as they were looking to celebrating with family and friends. Alex’s parent's really wanted their son to have a real wedding experience and once planning was on the cards again, they decided on Florence and Tuscany for its romantic countryside as Emily had never been to Italy and well, who could resist an elopement to Tuscany? It was extra special given the groom's sister – Hawaii wedding photographer JEANNEMARIE PHOTO – captured their special day.
After all the planning and coordinating, family traveled from the US, Spain and Venezuela for the weekend festivities which included some sightseeing at the Uffizi and a classic walking tour of the city. The invitation designed by BLANCHE HEIRLOOM set the tone, reflecting the romance of Italy.
Being that their first wedding was canceled, Emily didn’t have the opportunity to wear her originally dress and JEANNEMARIE thought it was a great idea to start the day off with a sunrise session in and around the city. She tells us, "Starting off at the Duomo Santa Maria del Fiore while the streets were still and quiet, it made for a fabulous romantic backdrop for their portraits. Afterwards we headed over to the Pointe Vecchio and ended at the San Miniato al Monte for it has some of the best views of Florence. Ending at the cafe for a cappuccino and pastry as it’s something they enjoy doing together. After a whirlwind morning, we headed over to Torre a Cona up in the hills on the outskirts of the city near Chianti, made for a countryside estate without being too far from the city itself."
The ceremony was a family affair with Alex’s father performing the ceremony and Emily’s brother doing a reading. It was joyful beautiful ceremony with tears of joy and laughter as there was some translation from Spanish to English mis-hap. Emily wore a BHLDN gown she felt matched the romance of Tuscany with it’s embroidered pattern (and one Alex hadn’t seen yet). Alex wore a RALPH LAUREN suit in royal blue which enhanced his blue eyes.
After a toast of an Aperol Spritz they headed into the reception where the guests dined at a kings table, donned with blooms of Roses and Ranunculus in pastels of peaches and whites. It was a happy and joyful celebration as much as it was a romantic one! The celebration wasn't quite over and the following day they all headed onto the train and continued the celebration in Venice.
