Set outside of a hill town in the Umbria region of Italy, LA BADIA DI ORVIETO is a Benedictine abbey built around 1100 that now serves as a gorgeous hotel and wedding venue. The space is a blend of medieval castle vibes with its tower and ruins and the romantic Romanesque chapel with 13th century frescoes. Cypress trees line the driveway, and an olive grove borders the venue for the perfect Italian countryside vibe. For this wedding editorial captured by Louisiana wedding photographer FAITH ROPER, the bride, Carlotta, wore a lace REEM ACRA gown embellished with delicate pearl beads and carried an oversized bouquet of white and cream peonies, roses, ranunculus, and more. The delicate florals and lace of the gown stand in contrast against the raw texture of the stone and ruins. The handsome groom wore a classic black tuxedo. Faith tells us, "Designed and styled by JANNA BROWN DESIGN with additional coordination by CHE CHIC WEDDINGS our day began with separate bridal and groom portraits in the candlelit stone chapel and its fresco adorned room. Paper goods by PRAIRIE & SAGE are fitting for the medieval castle meets Italian countryside style. Our ceremony was set in the courtyard with dark wooden chairs fitting a castle celebration. The reception was held under the dramatic archway ruins, with round tables laden with lush bouquets of white and cream florals, including the most gorgeous peonies you have ever seen. Couple portraits around the venue ended with a walk in the olive grove at sunset to enjoy the view of the Orvieto skyline with the Duomo as the star."
A big thank you to Louisiana wedding photographer FAITH ROPER for sharing this stunning inspiration with us. Faith approaches your wedding day with thoughtfulness, intention, and care. "I always strive to be a calm presence on your day. Of course, I want you to love your wedding photos, but also to have a great experience with me. Looking around at all the friends and family celebrating, I always feel so honoured to be there documenting your wedding. I am inspired by luminous skin tones, painterly backgrounds, and emotive storytelling. I want to create photos that make you feel beautiful and that help you remember how you felt on your wedding day." Head over to her portfolio to see more of her work.
