Brooke and Trystan’s story began in the most modern of ways—over Zoom at North Carolina State University—yet it unfolded with a sweetness that felt wonderfully old-fashioned. Their first in-person date in Raleigh set everything in motion: Brooke flew in on a whim to meet a “random guy,” while two weeks later, Trystan drove eight hours to Ohio to meet her family. Capturing every authentic, joyful moment of their journey, Sarah of OTTO PHOTOGRAPHY was there to document the laughter, love, and quiet intimacy that made their day unforgettable.
A Proposal Surrounded by Family
Knowing Brooke’s deep love for Hilton Head—and the importance of family—Trystan planned a proposal that wove both together. With a ring he’d held onto since June, he waited for the perfect winter date when family and friends could gather.
On December 28th, 2024, believing they were simply headed to dinner, Brooke joined Trystan for a walk on the beach. From the balcony of her parents’ home, their loved ones watched as he knelt in the sand and asked her to marry him. The celebration that followed at the house made the moment even sweeter.

Choosing Haig Point
For a bride who grew up visiting Hilton Head, an island wedding felt not only fitting but essential. HAIG POINT captivated Brooke from the moment she stepped onto its grounds—the sweeping lawn, the waterfront views, the Southern architecture, and the gracious hospitality all played a part.
Hosted by the impeccable team at HAIG POINT and brought to life with planning by MARIS & VALLE, the celebration unfolded across the ceremony lawn, cocktail spaces, and a beautiful white tent designed for effortless movement and connection. Guests raved about the food, the service, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere.
A Morning in the Mansion
Getting ready inside the historic Haig Point Mansion set the perfect tone. With spacious rooms, charming architectural details, and a classic Southern feel, the morning felt relaxed and joyful. Brooke spent it surrounded by her bridesmaids and family—while the groom and his groomsmen prepared at the Lighthouse nearby, enjoying their own moment of camaraderie before the festivities began.

A First Look to Remember
The couple chose to share a private first look, followed by personal vows—a moment they both consider one of the best of the day. It calmed their nerves and anchored them before the ceremony, offering a quiet breath in the midst of excitement.

Style Beneath the Southern Sun
Brooke’s sequin-embellished gown shimmered beautifully in the sunlight, adding a touch of glamour to the coastal setting. The groomsmen wore classic black suits, a striking contrast to the soft light-pink bridesmaids’ dresses and playful pops of hot pink woven throughout.
The florals, designed by GARDENIAS FLORAL DESIGN, leaned into simple, elegant beauty. Brooke’s bouquet featured aurora roses—a new favorite introduced to her during the planning process. Gardenias created refined arrangements for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, enhancing each space with understated sophistication.
A Ceremony Filled With Meaning
The ceremony unfolded on the lawn beneath the open sky. The most heartfelt detail stood at the end of the aisle: a wooden cross handcrafted by Brooke’s father and installed just for the occasion. It added a deeply personal touch to a moment already full of emotion.

Celebrating Under the Tent
Cocktail hour brought soft breezes, classic love songs, and an easy transition into an evening of celebration. Guests enjoyed small bites and the signature drink—“Tying the Knox,” named after the couple’s Golden Retriever and served in custom cups printed with his face.
The reception was filled with heartfelt speeches, delicious food prepared by the Haig Point chef, and lively entertainment from DJ Josh of BEYOND DJ ENTERTAINMENT, whose music kept the dance floor full all night. A t-shirt toss delighted guests, and the evening closed with everyone gathered in a circle, singing together—a perfect final memory.
A Sweet Start to Newlywed Life
After the festivities, Brooke and Trystan enjoyed a mini-moon in Hilton Head and are planning a longer international honeymoon next year. For now, they carry with them the joy of a day filled with family, faith, meaningful details, and love that felt right at home.

THE PHOTOGRAPHER SAYS
“Brooke and Trystan’s wedding was nothing short of magical from start to finish. The day began with a ferry ride from Hilton Head – the only way on and off the island – setting the tone for an intimate and unforgettable celebration. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the lush ceremony lawn, the historic tabby ruins, and the stunning sailcloth tent that would later host their lively reception. The girls got ready in the grand mansion on the property, a space filled with natural light, laughter, and joyful anticipation, while the boys prepared in the island’s iconic lighthouse – a setting that felt timeless and true to the charm of Haig Point.
Brooke’s color palette of soft blush, magenta, white, and gold was both classic and romantic, with every thoughtful detail beautifully executed. One of the most touching moments came as Brooke walked down the aisle – her mother, who had been working tirelessly to have the strength to stand for this moment, surprised her at the end of the aisle. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight.
From start to finish, the entire wedding party was an absolute joy – fun, kind, and so easy to work with – which made the day flow effortlessly and filled every moment with laughter. The love that surrounded Brooke and Trystan was truly palpable, and as the sun dipped below the horizon, guests danced the night away beneath disco balls and golden light. I remember checking the forecast on the ferry that morning – it read “an abundance of sunshine,” and that’s exactly what the day became, both literally and in spirit. Brooke was a true ray of sunshine from beginning to end, and this wedding will always stand out as one of my very favorite experiences.” Sarah from OTTO PHOTOGRAPHY
