Being a country girl at heart Geraldine had an picture of her wedding in her head way before settling on a venue, so the search was on for the perfect location to match the vision. She wanted something simple but elegant with a slight bohemian feel to it. The result is a wedding with a beautifully timeless feel to it that photographer Genevi ve Fundaro has captured so well.
Tell us about your proposal: He actually proposed on a few occasions but, don’t ask me why because I did actually say yes every time but the final proposal was 7000ft up in the air when we took a scenic flight over Johannesburg on Valentines Day.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I tried on more than 30 dresses before finding my perfect dress. I walked into a Bridal Store as miserable as can be thinking I will definitely not find my dress there, even the bridal consultant was sceptic whether I would find something but there it was and I fell in love.
Any DIY/Budget elements? The flowers and decor I did myself with the help of friends and family. From painting bottles to making my own hair “fascinator” I LOVE flowers and myself and both of my sisters have at least a bit of creativity flowing through our veins so I knew to have my perfect wedding I need to do it myself. My one sister made the popcorn for our “CornFetti” whilst the other planned the detail for the Decor!
Describe your wedding flowers: I wanted my flowers for the bouquets to look as if I they were freshly picked just a few minutes ago and I wanted it to be as close as possible to its natural form. The flowers for the reception decor I kept simple yet elegant by using single flowers in bottles to accentuate the flower itself and show of the beauty of each flower separately.
What advise would you give out to a couple planning their wedding? Stay true to yourself and remember that to get things done this is the one time you should delegate what each person must do to keep your stress levels to a minimum. I at first didn’t want to listen to the same advice given to me by my sisters but a day before my big day I gave in.
Most memorable moment? There were so many moments that it is almost impossible to find one that stands out more than the other. But to name a fewééòStanding next to my dad before walking down the isle and him just softly saying I look beautiful and then definitely seeing Brandon’s face as I walked towards him knowing that I want to spend the rest of my life with him.
