It’s been far too long since we’ve featured one of DANELLE BOHANE’S stunning weddings, but we’re making up for it today with this beautiful Auckland celebration of Enya & Rob’s in a palette of navy, soft peach and accents of gold. The couple chose the gorgeous Mt Eden venue of MANTELLS saying, We loved the intimate bare bones of Mantells, from the pared back concrete, aged candle chandeliers, to the lush Tuscan inspired courtyard. It was a perfect marriage with our design sensibilities loosely inspired by 1920’s Paris.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS: My bridal look was romantic and old-worldly, being fuss-free yet exuding a wonderful sense of occasion. Rue de Seine customised my French lace bustier with scalloped trimming, and a full pleated skirt of silk satin and tulle. I accessorised with a delicate Swarovski headpiece atop a French lace veil. My Chanel wedge sandals were a fortuitous find whilst wandering the blue-shuttered alleys of Mykonos, Greece.
DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: Our superbly talented florist Leaf & Honey perfectly encapsulated my vision for elegant but slightly undone arrangements, comprising of David Austin roses, double lisianthus, blush parrot tulips, caspia, antique hydrangea and fern, all offset with aged brass vases and candle holders, glass votives and delicate foliage. These adorned the outdoor mantel place in front of which we were wed, the bridal table, each of the table centerpieces, the courtyard table and the bathroom. Once the sun had set, the floral congregation was livened by flickering candle flames with a suitably romantic ambience. My bouquet was relaxed and whimsical, with big Juliet David Austin roses, garden roses, double lisianthus, blush parrot tulips, baby fern, blush caspia, and garden blooms, and finished with a slightly cheeky binding of gold sequins.
FAVOURITE DETAIL OF THE DAY? Stepping out hand-in-hand as newlyweds to the live acoustic rendition of ‘Good Life’ by One Republic.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OUT TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Enjoy the planning process as a couple, even if he seems indifferent to the shades of Pantone white. We whiled away a Saturday afternoon with wines in hand ‘auditioning’ our prospective wedding musician at a pub gig.
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? The most memorable moment was the wedding ceremony that began with ‘Captain Corelli’s’ entwined roots, and ended with the realest of love from ‘The Velveteen Rabbit’. Every word from our ceremony was carefully considered with the help of our celebrant. It is a rare and wonderful thing to share our growth as individuals and as a couple in front of our most beloved.
