Styled by BLUE GARDENIA EVENTS this colourful wedding inspiration captured by New Orleans wedding photographer LANCE NICOLL is like stepping into another world. A world filled with rich florals juxtaposed against decaying walls full of history.
The team tell us more about the shoot, "Tucked away in a corner of the historic Treme neighbourhood sits the SERAPHIM HOUSE. This unique event space is a perfect balance of preservation and decay, just like the soul of New Orleans itself. The space inspired us from the first time we stepped foot inside it’s halls. This venue and the city have such a charm, and we wanted to have this shoot capture the uniqueness of both. For the shoot we used deep rich colours with pops of brassy gold to really bring in a touch of Gothic romance. The beautiful flower arrangements created by FAT CAT FLOWERS invoke a sense of wildness, and mimic charming overgrown quality of New Orleans gardens. For the table a light and airy table runner allowed the rich wood of the farm table to take centre stage. To further allow the table to shine we set it with a clean simple setting that is offset by bold silverware, a bold napkin, and vintage purple glassware. A simple yet elegant menu and vellum card by NOVEMBER LETTERS sits on the plate. To complement the unique space a mix of chairs from LOVEGOOD RENTALS was used around the table. The beautiful textured cake by CHASING WANG subtly mimics the peeling paint on the walls of the Seraphim house, and sits on top of an old sewing machine table. The whole space was filled with such beautiful light from both tall windows, and candle light. A sweet intimate ceremony space sits at the end of the main hall, and envelop the couple in a semicircle of lush florals. For our bride and groom we wanted to give a sense of the unexpected. Our groom wore a deep burgundy tuxedo jacket from JOHN'S TUXEDO, which was a great modern twist on a classic look. Our bride wore a stunning dress from LEGENDS BY ROMONA KEVEZA. We just love the way this dress moved, and its vintage feel à la 1950s Dior. For the veil we went with high drama with a floor length veil from WEDDING BELLE'S bridal salon. The last special detail of this shoot is the gorgeous airy invitation suite created by NOVEMBER LETTERS. We took the image of the invitations sitting on the weathered floor of seraphim house, and accessorised the space with antique ephemera and jewellery."
