Alpacas, an orchard, dancing under the stars and a whole lot of fun is the best way to sum up this beautiful one-of-a-kind wedding by Queensland wedding photographer MALLORY SPARKLES. Where a Californian sweetheart meets an Australian funny-man, where the bride brings all the glam and the groom brings all the laughs.
Yep Hannah & Sam married in an orchard, played with the resident alpacas and danced the night away under the open stars – sounds pretty dreamy right. Gorgeous bride Hannah's inspiration for the wedding was to hold a simple outdoor wedding that was timeless. "We wanted it to feel like one big party with good food, live music and a fun time for everyone." And they certainly achieved that! The private property meant that they could hold both the ceremony and reception in the one spot.
HOW DID YOU MEET? We met through Sams best friend at a bar on the Sunshine Coast.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: I was surprised with a beach proposal under the stars with a beautiful setting of roses, twinkle lights, cheese, champagne, and a record player in the background playing music with a fire going. Super simple, yet perfect.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS: I really wanted a simple fitted dress that I knew I would love forever. I found my dress online from a store in California and had it shipped to me then fitted to my size and I added a few buttons to the back. It was perfect and I’m still in love with it.
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY ELEMENTS? We kept it so simple we didn’t do many DIY. Besides setting the whole wedding up ourselves (with the help of friends and family) our bar was made out of a horse float that my husband built.
DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: I wanted to keep the flowers simple yet beautiful, they had hues of light pinks, white and cream with a touch of greenery.
FAVOURITE DETAIL OF THE DAY: I truly loved how person our ceremony was with my dad marrying us along side close family and friends. Something I loved was sitting at our table for dinner and watching everyone enjoy drinks, food and conversation.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OUT TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Don’t stress to much about the day, it all will come together and the things that don’t go to plan you won’t even notice or remember. Just have fun and enjoy your day!
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? Our vows and having my family and closet friends fly from California.
WHAT ASPECT OF THE WEDDING WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU BOTH? Photos, food, and entertainment!
ANY OTHER DETAILS THAT HELP TELL THE STORY OF YOUR DAY? To tie it all together it was a beautiful day full all our loved ones enjoying drinks and food under the stars with alpacas around us and twinkles lights hung everywhere.
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR HONEYMOON: We went to Byron bay and stayed at our favourite resort. We ate at amazing restaurants, went to brewery’s, shopped and relaxed. It was a very nice time of winding down after the wedding.
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD CHANGE OR DO DIFFERENTLY? There’s really not much I would do differently! Besides being able to have more friends and family come from my home town in California!
