Heartfelt Farm Wedding Filled with Love and Family Memories

Meredith and Cory’s wedding was an intimate, family-focused celebration at the brides parents’ farm. DIY elements, nostalgic family tributes, and organic florals added personal touches.

Meredith and Cory’s wedding captured by JESSICA LAPP was a heartfelt celebration that perfectly captured their love for home and family. Held at Meredith’s parents’ house on their family farm, it was more than just a beautiful venue—it was a place full of cherished memories, from Cory’s proposal under the grove of trees to their dreams of building a future home there. The proposal was equally sentimental, taking place at Meredith’s favorite spot on the farm. Cory, with help from her sisters and cousin, planned the surprise perfectly, standing at the special knoll dressed up and ready for the big question, which left him speechless but earned a happy “yes” from Meredith.

DIY touches added a personal feel, such as their seating chart inspired by Pinterest, which proved more challenging than expected but came together beautifully. Their neutral, organic-looking floral arrangements were a testament to the trust and creativity shared with their florist MAX AND DEXTER. Special family tributes included displaying wedding photos of parents and grandparents at the cake table and using her grandparents’ cake topper, making loved ones part of their celebration.

For Cory, the cake-cutting moment provided an amusing highlight, while Meredith cherished the sunset photo session as the day’s most relaxing and intimate part. Both agreed their ceremony held the deepest meaning, enriched by thoughtful pre-marriage counseling that tied perfectly into their vows and set the tone for a day centered on love, family, and commitment.

The setting of our wedding is much more than a venue with beautiful backgrounds for our wedding photography – it’s home.

advice

If possible, spread out the celebration over a couple days.  We had loads of people from out of town that we do not get to see very often.  Many times, you hear the bride and groom complain that it was a rushed interaction at the wedding because you are making sure you speak to everyone in a limited amount of time.  We were fortunate to have a welcome dinner after our rehearsal, which led to an after party at a local restaurant that even more of our friends and family were able to join in the celebration.  At no time during the wedding did I feel like we were rushed or unable to “make the rounds”.  Also – consider the first look!  It was such a special quiet time before the ceremony and was very intimate.  Not to mention,  we were able to knock out a bunch of pictures before the ceremony, so we were able to enjoy everyone’s company at the reception

More importantly, during the planning, enjoy your partner!  And for the guys; DON’T reply to a wedding question with “Whatever you think is best.”  Trust me, having the wrong opinion is better than not having an opinion.

I loved the way it felt and looked on me, so I bought the dress that day.

I had so much fun working with my florist and totally trusted her. I wanted neutral colored flowers that were loose and organic looking and she nailed it!

the gown

When looking for the dress I went with my mom, sisters, and cousin thinking I was just going to try on dresses and figure out what style I liked best. But I ended up buying the fourth dress I tried on. It reminded me of one of my grandmas old lace tablecloths she had. I loved the way it felt and looked on me, so I bought the dress that day. I panicked most of the engagement thinking I picked my dress too quickly but on the day of the wedding it was perfect.

THE HONEYMOON

We took a gamble on using Costco travel after a recommendation from a friend.  We decided on a property in the Dominican Republic called Sanctuary Cap Cana.  It was the best seven days of our lives.  After all of the amazing chaos that comes along with the big day, it was great to have quiet time and be able to shift our focus from the wedding details, family and friends, to just each other.  Cap Cana was an awesome resort area which was super safe, we did not have street vendors come up to us on the beach to try to sell us things, we were treated like royalty and quite frankly I cannot wait to go back to celebrate another milestone.  The flight was easy and getting to and from the resort was included and handled by Costco Travel!  We were skeptical, but now we are sold!
