Meganisi in the Greek Isles is a sparsely populated island with limited tourist development but what it lacks in infrastructure it makes up for with its lush greenery and blue green waters. Making it the idyllic spot for Charlotte & Peter’s destination wedding. And all the more so because it’s a place they’ve visited every summer together. The groom’s maternal grandparents were born on the island so much of his childhood was spent there. Greek wedding photographer ELIAS KORDELAKOS joined them to capture all the festivities.
With some beaches only accessible via foot or boat, the couple hired a private boat to take their guests around the islands for the day before their wedding which made the entire celebration feel like a vacation and was a nice way to spend quality time with their guests – many of who had travelled a long distance to join them. The incorporated some fun Greek things into the day like plate smashing, an olive bar for guests to sample and a cheese wheel wedding cake.
Elias tells us, “I love the Greek Islands for the magical light and their colour! Meganisi was a pleasant surprise as it has its own character. Charlotte & Peter were very relaxed and laid back and their day was a beautiful mix of people and culture, with guests from the US, UK and Greece.“
