Today we're immersing ourselves into a cosy modern winter wonderland! Inspired by white powdered bushes lining a street in a lime quarry, photographer ANJA SCHNEEMANN had a beautiful vision for this clean minimalist styled shoot. In collaboration with decorator and florist Irka from POMPOM YOUR LIFE! she bought her vision to reality in the form of a cotton inspired winter wedding. Dried flowers are an amazing alternative to fresh blooms – particularly in winter when the offering is limited. Irka combined cotton buds with a selection of foraged dried flowers and grass like lunaria, sedum, dried wild thyme, sedge and delphinium. The result is incredible!
Anja tells us, "The shoot took place in a transformer station of an old steel mill. The steel mill is long gone, but the buildings with their industrial architecture remained and offer a beautiful backdrop for weddings and events. We wanted to create something delicate, something soft, something elegant, something that connects the softness of the cotton buds with the industrial chic of the location. Dried flower arrangements meet wooden chargers, handmade ceramics and natural linen harmonise wonderfully with copper flatware, elegant glasses and transparent chairs.
The different tones of the dried flowers were the perfect template for the colour concept. A blend of brown and nude combined with copper that mirrors the beautiful almost copper-looking brown on the cups of the cotton buds. The transparent chairs create an airy atmosphere and build the bridge between the natural and organic decor and the modern industrial architecture.
Hamburg-based bridal boutique ELBBRAUT provided a very natural looking bridal dress with a small silhouette and delicate lace embellishments. Make-up artist LIDIA KUSKIN created a matching bridal look with open flowing hair. Sometimes it does not need much… a cotton bud makes a perfect hairpiece.
OH JULIE CALLIGRAPHY created an elegant hand-calligraphed stationery suite using hand-made cotton paper. The envelopes made of wood veneer match the overall concept of the natural and organic design."
