Elegant Western-Inspired Wedding in the heart of Montana

Alexa and Hans’s story began through mutual friends. While Hans knew the brunch in San Francisco was a setup, Alexa had no idea — and from that first gathering, their connection sparked. Hans planned a proposal perfectly tailored to Alexa’s love of Italy. A winter trip to visit the Christmas markets seemed ideal, and while he had hoped to pop the question at a Tuscan winery, a storm changed plans. Instead, a few days later, he proposed at the breathtaking Basilica di San Miniato al Monte in Florence. Alexa was utterly surprised — unaware Hans had secretly flown to Coeur d’Alene to meet her father for his blessing under the guise of “buying hay.”

The wedding morning was filled with laughter, love, and calm anticipation. Alexa and her bridal party prepared in the bridal cabin, with her maid of honor presenting a touching “Letters to the Bride” book. The cabin overflowed with joy, tears, and snacks, not to mention Alexa’s two wiener dogs. Meanwhile, Hans and the groomsmen enjoyed the hot springs before mastering their bow ties with a little help from Tatiana and YouTube.

Alexa had a clear vision for every paper detail, from invitations to day-of signage. She designed classic letterpress stationery herself through MINTED, reviewing nearly 30 proofs to land on the perfect combination. NOTEWORTHY brought their signage to life, including a linen seating chart and bar menu, while their planner, Tatiana of VINE AND BRANCH EVENTS CO, ensured everything arrived safely in Montana, going above and beyond at every step.

The couple wanted something distinct from the coastal weddings they’d attended in California. With a desire for an elevated Western vibe, they began their search in Idaho, near Alexa’s family, before Alexa’s mom discovered COPPER ROSE RANCH in Montana. It immediately captured their imagination. The families traveled to Bozeman to see the ranch in person, and despite the freezing day, it was clear this was the one. The stunning scenery would become the backdrop for their intimate celebration.

The couple chose a first look to take photos and ease nerves before the ceremony. It was a deeply intimate, grounding moment — just the two of them, surrounded by their trusted vendor team, capturing raw emotion and a sense of peace.

Alexa’s look blended timeless elegance with Western Vogue, perfectly suited to Montana. Her two-piece KYHA BRIDE gown was paired later in the evening with a custom mini by SOUTH OF WEST BRIDAL. On the dance floor, both she and Hans wore custom Stetson hats from Kemo Sabe. Bridesmaids wore champagne-colored PARK & FIFTH dresses, while groomsmen donned STATE & LIBERTY tuxedos. Guests embraced the Western dress code, adding bolo ties, cowboy hats, and boots to the festive atmosphere.

Alexa and Hans wanted florals that were classic yet harmonious with the natural surroundings. Inspired by old-world European gardens, vintage pots were filled with draping green amaranthus and creamy blooms, transported from Idaho by Alexa’s parents. POPPY & AUGUST executed the vision beautifully, crafting statement arrangements at the guest book and bar while keeping table florals low and airy for effortless conversation.

The ceremony was filled with intimate, meaningful moments. Hans walked down the aisle with his parents, while grandparents joined the processional. Officiated by RAYDEANE OWENS, the ceremony was faith-based and deeply personal. A relaxed cocktail hour followed, complete with Alexa’s Hugo Spritz and Hans’s Old Fashioned, candlelight flickering, and golden Montana skies illuminating the joyful gathering.

STILLWATER STRINGS set the tone during the ceremony and cocktail hour, performing classical and modern arrangements, while DJ Joe kept the reception alive with country favorites, throwbacks, and crowd-pleasers that had every guest dancing.

Just 24 hours after returning home from Montana, Alexa and Hans departed for their honeymoon at the Four Seasons Bora Bora. Days were spent jet skiing, snorkeling with sharks and stingrays, relaxing poolside, and enjoying exquisite dinners, offering the perfect way to reflect on a weekend filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
