Elegant Beach Wedding By Michael Radford

Happy Auckland Anniversary day! I hope you’re having a lovely day off if you’re a local… admittedly I’m using the ‘day off’ to catch up on work! Happy Auckland Anniversary day! I hope you’re having a lovely day off if you’re a local… admittedly I’m using the ‘day off’ to catch up on work! It’s not too often I feature beach weddings but it certainly seems appropriate on this summery public holiday when most people here are probably enjoying our sandy shores. And this stunning Laguna Beach wedding by MICHAEL RADFORD PHOTOGRAPHY is truly gorgeous! I love the soft and subtle colour palette, and well it just wouldn’t be a beach wedding without a kombi van would it?

Heidi and Adam are both self proclaimed ééòbeach babiesééò, growing up with their ééòtoes in the sandééò so it made perfect sense for them to celebrate their special day at the beach so that they could incorporate the laid back beach vibe that is them! Heidi’s Mum had collected a large quantity of sea glass and driftwood from many visits to Crystal Cove over the years so this formed the basis of the inspiration for the wedding.

ééòOriginally we had imagined the weather at our wedding to be a gorgeous sunny day at the beach. It was sunny all week leading up to our Friday wedding and then we woke up to overcast. The overcast weather actually turned out to be my favourite detail of the day. It felt like we were on our own mystical island and the pictures turned out amazing because of the cloud coverage. ééò

Most memorable moment? I drove up to the aisle with my parents and sister in my blue and white 71 Volkswagon bus. That moment having my parents on each arm and seeing everyone stand up with Adam at the altar was really special. I wish I could put that moment in a glass bottle and uncork it 20, 30, 4o years from now just to relive it.

Anything other details that help tell the story of your day: Adam and I went on a more non-traditional route for our wedding. We had a smaller ceremony and dinner on the beach at Crystal Cove in Laguna Beach and a larger party with all extended family and friends the following night. At the party the following night Adam and all the men serenaded me. They sang Forever and Ever Amen by Randy Travis. Amazing!!!!
