This modern bohemia editorial is a gorgeous collaboration between Sydney wedding photographer WE ARE ORIGAMI and designer MAMA & LOU. We love the contemporary feel the texture and colours in this give and the beautiful salmon tone of the dress by MORRISON CLOTHING may just be our new favourite shade! Whilst it's not overtly 'wedding-ish' we find it's often best to take inspiration for your wedding style from other creative avenues; be in nature, landscapes, architecture or even fashion. There are so many ideas to take from this to create your own boho-inspired wedding style.
Stylist Megan tells us, "As a designer it can take only one element to spark inspiration, and set the wheels in motion to develop and build upon a style story. For this particular shoot, that inspiration came from vintage bohemian rag coasters that I stumbled across at some local markets. I loved their earthy tones, informal look and individuality to each of them. I purchased them immediately, waiting for my chance to incorporate them in to a style project. Along with a talented team of creatives, we developed a shoot to pay tribute to beautiful and unique finds like these bohemian coasters.
THE PROVINCIAL is a beautiful new restaurant based in Rozelle, Sydney. The space offered perfect simplicity to set the scene with the organic interiors were designed and built by the owner himself. Our lovely Floral Designer, ALICE BEASLEY, creates very interesting arrangements that are a little quirky which is precisely why I wanted to work with her. Alice's designs are rambling, but her process is incredibly thoughtful. She invests a lot of time in choosing and foraging for the right elements and tones. Dried grasses and palm tree fronds were incorporated for texture and to pay tribute to the earthy tones of the overall shoot.
We dressed the table in soft pink linen loaned from SIMMONS LINEN HIRE in Melbourne, and worked with neutral ceramics provided by the venue. Gold Cutipol cutlery from FRANCALIA HOMEWARES finished the look and worked in with the rest of the tones beautifully. A custom invitation suite, menus and place-cards were designed and handwritten by MAURELLE CALLIGRAPHY. I found Maurelle via Instagram, and fell in love with her old world style and that she was inspired by British Colombia. Our model wore a beautiful rust gown with complementing tones in make up and effortless and un-done hair by NIKI SIMPSON.
