This beautiful desert wedding editorial by Los Angeles Wedding photographer SAVAN PHOTOGRAPHY was one of the stunning features in Issue 19 of MAGNOLIA ROUGE MAGAZINE. The soft and neutral palate that is associated with the desert and sand dunes is a photographer’s dream come true. The light is always golden, even and straight up dreamy in the desert. Having seen many beautiful editorials and weddings in this landscape with an airy and flowy look, photographer SAVAN wanted to bring out the darker tones of the landscape, and combined peach and orange hues with desert plants, and added a touch of glamorous old Hollywood to complete the vision she and co-stylist Trish had.

We began with the florals–one of the most important aspects to a great editorial. I wanted to highlight the undertones of the big boulders surrounding the desert which are yellow, peach, soft pink, and light rust with specks of gold. Erin from Southern California florist OAK & AMBLE collected in-season florals that incorporated those tones; pale yellow tulips, blush garden roses, Japanese ranunculus in golden yellow and orange hues, bay leaves and the delicate Jasmine vines that were entwined throughout the bridal bouquet and table setting. The result was a timeless and elegant look that wasn’t overdone.

With the wonderful neutral palette the desert offers, the creative team played with the juxtaposition of dark and light, incorporating black matte ceramic plates for the table design. The striking contrast made the entire setting pop and created a slightly edgy modern component. Cylindrical glassware that was delicate and chic combined with gold brush flatware brought a touch of mid-century design to the finished look.

Bringing it all full circle was this edgy, yet classic invitation suite by PIROUETTE PAPER with a minimalist appeal. The black from the table setting was tied in by incorporating black envelopes versus the traditional white, and featured  watercolour deckled edges. The styling of the invitation mirrored the table as well to make this entire editorial cohesive and simply breathtaking.

Souther
n California florist OAK & AMBLE
has a style that is lush, natural and romantic. Owner Erin likes to take cues from nature when designing and she excels at utilising colour theory when selecting blooms. By drawing out subtle hues in the veins of leaves starting to change with the seasons or even reflexing petals to show how a flower variegates from one shade to the next, she can help expand and elevate a simple colour palette to one with depth and dimension.
