This sweet and simple wedding by Willow & French took place at The White House in the Adelaide Hills. The gorgeous bride Laura said ééòI love vintage, just the elegance of it, so I booked the location with that in mind, knowing it would fit in with my ideas. I’m not sure what quite inspired me; I just knew a simple, vintage, DIY wedding was the way for me.ééò
Tell us about your proposal: Brad and I had gone through quite a lot together in the first two years of our relationship which not only made us stronger but made us both realise we could get through anything. As result we discussed marriage quite early and I knew Brad was saving for a ring. I didn’t however know he was going to propose on a Monday night at the top of Mt Lofty after I had hiked for an hour and was sweating bullets! My best friend, who I was hiking with, knew it was coming and made a quick exit as soon as I noticed Brad. It was beautiful and to our surprise tourists had taken photos of the moment and asked me if they could email them to me after it was all over!
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I went wedding dress shopping with my mum, I think it was about an hour into my first day looking for a dress and I found the one! I knew I wanted vintage, but I didn’t have any specific images in my head. It was the first dress I tried on, mum and I smiled at each other when I walked out the dressing room and it was purchased within minutes. To top it off, as soon as we walked out the shop, with the dress in my hand, the exact car I had booked for the wedding day (a white and yellow Kombi van) drove past usééò fate!
Describe your wedding flowers: Like everything I kept my flowers simple and had a mixture of mostly Babies Breathe and Daisies. All the flowers for the reception were white because they were sitting in brown bottles. My bridesmaids had white with yellow daisies to match the groomsman’s yellow bow ties.
Favourite detail of the day: My favourite detail of the day was a little DIY project I did using the photos of Brad and my parents and our grandparents on their wedding day. I stuck them to black card, tied string to the top and hung them on the chairs down our aisle; we then moved them to the reception area after the ceremony. It was great way to celebrate the love and commitment in both our families and also so our loved ones who couldn’t be with us were remembered on the day.
What advise would you give out to a couple planning their wedding? I would say keep it simpleééò simple is the key to a beautiful, stress free wedding. And trust yourself, you always find yourself going back to your first choice.
Most memorable moment? Brad’s speech was the most beautiful thing I have ever heard, I cry at the thought. I remember looking around the room and everyone I saw was crying!
