Perched high above the Dordogne valley, LE VILLAGE SUR LE ROC feels as though it belongs within the pages of a storybook. Captured so beautifully by FRANCES MARY SALES, Donna and Tom’s wedding unfolded amongst ancient stone buildings, rolling countryside views, and the kind of soft summer light that makes destination weddings in the French countryside feel impossibly romantic. With planning by PERFECT LITTLE WEDDING and florals by FLEURIBELLE, every detail felt effortlessly thoughtful without ever feeling overdone.
After nearly a decade together, Donna and Tom envisioned a wedding that felt intimate, atmospheric, and deeply personal. Their celebration reflected exactly that — elegant yet relaxed, emotional yet joy-filled, with every moment centred around connection and togetherness.

Even before they had truly spent time together in person, there was already a sense that something meaningful had begun.

From A Facebook Friend Request To Forever
Their story began quietly and unexpectedly while they were both still so young. Donna was studying in Cardiff while Tom had just begun his Electrical Engineering apprenticeship when she added him on Facebook. Within minutes he accepted the request and sent a message asking if she was from Haverfordwest, convinced they somehow already knew each other.
What followed were endless conversations, long-distance phone calls, and a connection that felt immediate. Even before they had truly spent time together in person, there was already a sense that something meaningful had begun. Years later, after building a life together and welcoming two children, Tom proposed during a coastal walk in Saundersfoot, creating a moment that was both thoughtful and deeply personal.

Softness, Light, And Intentional Details
The overall aesthetic of the wedding was centred around softness and ease. Muted pastel tones flowed throughout the celebration, from the bridesmaids’ dresses in pale lemon, blue, mint, and lilac, to the delicate stationery and florals that subtly enhanced the surrounding landscape.
One particularly meaningful touch was the bespoke wedding newspaper created for guests. Placed on each ceremony chair, it shared the couple’s story, timeline, and personal notes in a way that immediately drew everyone into the emotion of the day.
Donna’s bridal look felt romantic and ethereal, with layers of softly sparkling tulle and an off-the-shoulder neckline that moved beautifully in the light. Meanwhile, the classic black tuxedos worn by Tom and the groomsmen added a timeless contrast to the softer palette. Their daughter, serving as flower girl, wore a miniature version of Donna’s flowing gown, adding another deeply sentimental layer to the day.

A Ceremony Filled With Emotion
Set against the breathtaking French countryside backdrop, the ceremony itself was intentionally intimate. Surrounded only by their closest family and friends, Donna and Tom exchanged vows within an atmosphere that felt warm, emotional, and incredibly personal.
Following the ceremony, guests gathered in the gardens overlooking the valley for cocktails beneath the summer sky. Signature drinks reflected the couple’s personalities and the palette of the day itself, from Tom’s Mai Tai to Donna’s Gin Sour and a delicate lavender and grapefruit cocktail inspired by the pastel tones woven throughout the celebration.
As golden light settled over the château grounds, the celebration transitioned effortlessly into the reception. Long tables, flowing wine, candlelight, and laughter created the kind of atmosphere guests never want to leave.
Dancing Into The Night
As evening fell, light rain gently shifted the celebration indoors to the venue’s chapel, creating an even more intimate atmosphere for the evening ahead. A live band and saxophonist kept the dance floor full while cocktails and conversation flowed late into the night.
One of the most touching moments came quietly away from the celebration as Donna changed into her second dress. Tom joined her, helping her get ready before surprising her with a necklace featuring his initial — a subtle nod to a Taylor Swift lyric that held special meaning within their relationship. It was intimate, thoughtful, and perfectly reflective of the connection they share.
Beautifully documented through the lens of FRANCES MARY SALES, every moment of Donna and Tom’s wedding felt timeless, romantic, and deeply heartfelt — the kind of celebration that lingers long after the final dance.
