It was the rustic beauty of the BARN AT HARVEST MOON POND that won over this couple when it came to choosing their wedding venue ééò and it also provided the inspiration for the rest of the wedding. Being a farm girl herself, bride Olivia felt drawn to the 100 year history of the building and the fact that it had been built by the owners ancestors captured their hearts. Thanks so much to JAKE ANDERSON for sharing this gorgeous wedding with us.
How did you meet? Olivia ééò We met each other while volunteering for a retreat camp in Northern Wisconsin. We were friends for years before even realizing we were interested in each other. James ééò I knew for a while that I was interested in her, she just didn’t know it.
Tell us about your proposal: We love to travel, so he planned a little day trip to one of our favourite places on Lake Superior. We spent the day on the beach, had a campfire and watched the sun set. No one was there but us. As the sun was setting, he got down on one knee and asked me to spend my life with him. I loved sharing that moment with him.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: Brandi’s Bridal Galleria is located in my home town, so that was the first (and last) shop I looked at. I took my sister and maid of honor Anna. After trying on multiple dresses, I put on that dress and (as clich as this is) knew it was the one I wanted. It was fun to wear! I loved the lace elements on the bodice and the chiffon skirt was flowy and soft. When I paired it with a veil that had lace eyelashes, I was hooked. It was simple and had movement; just my style.
Favourite detail of the day: Sitting down to dinner and seeing everyone relaxed and enjoying themselves, as some of James and my favourite indie music played in the background. Enjoying the company of friends and family all together in one place was such an amazing blessing. That relaxed vibe was everything we had wanted for our wedding day.
What advise would you give out to a couple planning their wedding? Simplify. Simple beauty can sometimes say more than a big show. Sometimes less is more, plan for a day that you can enjoy, not a day that will be stressful.
Most memorable moment? We were married by James’ father, which was such a special blessing for both of us. Olivia ééò Holding my dad’s arm and him telling me he loved me, as the door opened and I saw all my friends and family smiling at me and James standing under the arbour waiting for me. James ééò Seeing Olivia for the first time. She looked happy, in a carefree sort of way, as if she had nothing else on her mind but us being together.
