This Scandinavian-inspired winter wedding shoot – designed by THE STYLED SOIREE and captured by CARRIE KING PHOTOGRAPHY – was created with a serene, mountain hideaway in mind. Imagine an intimate dinner, lit by dozens of candles and warmed by a stone fireplace as snow drifts gently outside. The glow of love, family, and friends warms the room. Sounds like my idea of perfection!
WILD CANYON RANCH is a gorgeous new venue in Lake George, Colorado that has maintained the bucolic feel of a Mountain retreat while adding luxurious flair with intricate chandeliers and an incredible, two-story stone hearth and fireplace. The team chose cool, muted colours of icy blue, grey and eucalyptus green to complement the reclaimed wood walls and used shearling and ceramic elements to enhance the natural feel of the venue. The bridal suite includes an incredible claw-foot tub and marble floors and the diffused, romantic lighting was the inspiration for a boudoir portion of the shoot. A stunning deconstructed bouquet by EMMA LEA FLORAL added to the slightly wild, organic feel provided by the mountainous setting.
Carrie tells us, “The flowers reflected a Scandinavian feel by using a muted colour palette with pops of peach. A manzanita branch candelabra was used on the ceremony alter with brass and fur accents to add warmth and glow. The table settings used the clean lines and minimalist feel typical to Scandinavian design and favours of lingonberry jam added a bit of colour and sweetness.
A Scandinavian twist was put on the dessert by creating a Fika station. Fika literally means to take a coffee break, but culturally goes much deeper. It is about taking time to appreciate friends and the good things in life and to always eat a little something sweet. We were hoping to showcase the beauty of an intimate, winter wedding tucked into the Colorado Mountains, with friends, family and a roaring fire warming the event.“
Now if this gorgeous scene below doesn’t convince you that a winter wedding is the way to go nothing will!
