Take one gorgeous Indian bride, one handsome Italian groom, one amazing Austrian photographer and some beautiful Italian alpine countryside, wrap it all into one bundle and you can get this utterly incredible wedding. Nolita & Egon both moved to Salzburg around the same time and meet at a barbeque. He had just spent six months working in India ééò coincidently in the very same small town that Nolita was born in. I think it’s fair to say that fate was at work.
The couple visit Italy each month and wanted their guests to experience it in the same manner that they do, with it’s beauty, it’s simplicity and of course it’s food. After meeting the kind soul who owns this vineyard they knew they had found the perfect spot for their Italian rustic wedding. The lovely and talented SIEGRID CAIN has done the most beautiful job of capturing their day.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: It was a cold day in December, which would have otherwise been rather grey except for the proposal! Egon pretended to leave to work with me but was actually going 70km to a florist I really love. He then went to search for scallops and lemons. He spent the whole afternoon setting up the place, making the perfect lemon panacotta (I love everything lemony). When I drove home that evening, there was a note on my parking spot, which led to more love notes ending at our door. That should have given it away but Egon does do a lot of sweet things so I didn’t suspect that it would end with a proposal. He then told me he’d left early so we can cook together. We made Lemon linguine with scallops and he was playing all our favourite songs. When Razzle Dazzle Rose (camera obscura) was playing he hugged me and we were swaying to the music and he said that our lives were so complete with each other and he would love for me to be part of his life always and slipped the ring into my palm.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS: I’m not someone who has a lot of patience when it comes to trying on clothes. I usually know what I like and can walk out of a store in 10 minutes because they don’t seem to have what I like. I looked at a lot of sites online ééò I knew I didn’t want something traditional. After looking at a few sites I came across Flossman in Vienna who stock Pronovias. I booked an appointment with them. I went by myself but I had my mom, my sister and my best friend on skype while I tried out my dresses and I found one in the first half an hour and was done! I liked everything, the color, the way it fit and the details.
ANY DIY/BUDGET ELEMENTS? A lot of our wedding was DIY. I’m lucky to have such talented friends. Everything from the invitation to the giveaway was designed by my friend Michael John. A few other friends pitched in and we made the photobooth. We used the wine leaves to keep with the rustic theme of the setting.
DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: Flowers in Italy the moment you say ‘wedding’ can be really expensive. Which is why we kept it simple and decided to only have my bouquet of peonies done by the florist. For the rest I sourced pinwheels on etsy in our colors which worked out beautifully. Pinwheels also had a special meaning as when I was a kid my dad would by us one on Sunday and we’d run up and down blowing our pinwheels. Our flower girls and bridesmaids had large pinwheels and we got pinwheel boutonni res for the groomsmen and little pinwheels with baby’s breath along the aisle.
FAVOURITE DETAIL OF THE DAY: I loved the little block of wood which held our rings. Egon’s 90 year old grandfather made it for us and it will always be special for us.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OUT TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Keep it simple and have fun with it. Everyone’s there to celebrate your love and it doesn’t have to be over the top to be beautiful.
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? Everyone standing outside the church blowing bubbles and the Bollywood show put on by my best friends.
