We are rather fond of a good ol’ backyard wedding, and when it’s in your own home it’s extra special particularly as the groom Ben put his heart and soul into it basically rebuilding it from the studs ééò we’re impressed! The couple will likely only live here for a few years before moving on to the next project, but this home is a slice of their lives together and now holds memories of their wedding that was captured by MELISSA JILL. It shows just how gorgeous it can be to transform your garden into a the perfect space for your big day. Gorgeous bride Ashley and her friends created the entire wedding ééò from the decorations and tablesettings, from the florals to installing all the lighting.
While Ben was the creative force behind planning their home, Ashley came to the forefront in planning their wedding. She wanted a warm, picnic theme for their backyard wedding, and elevated that theme to something lovely. The couple’s shared love of wine inspired the idea of having wine corks as place card holders, and she ran headlong into more DIY projects from there.
Ashley says, ééòAlthough it was a lot of work, I feel so good about all the DIY projects. I had family fly in from Washington State and friends come over for little parties to help tie the place card holders, glue the cake stands and test the flower arrangements. Looking back, it was that personal touch that really stands out in my mind. I even made my own bouquet! People thought I was crazy and looking back, I definitely was!ééò
