Using their respective mediums as artists in the wedding industry, JESSICA KAY PHOTOGRAPHY and LAURA'S FLORAS collaborated on this shoot purely for the sake of creating art. And creating art is what they did – I mean just go and take a look at the exquisite double exposure imagery in this shoot! With backgrounds in the arts they wanted to showcase their skills in a way that would not only speak to brides, but stand alone as artistic impression.
Jessica tells us, "We decided we wanted to do a 'double exposure on film' focused bridal shoot that incorporated many elements a typical styled bridal should would; a gorgeous BHLDN dress, hair by HAIR BY MISSY, make-up by ARTISTRY BY DANIKA, and florals by LAURA'S FLORAS. But we wanted to up the creativity factor and make images that incorporated the elements of art and principals of design. Our goal was to create images that could exist outside of the world of weddings in a gallery or someone's home. I played with the idea of positive and negative space in each of the double exposures. LAURA'S FLORAS also aimed to create shapes and movement with her floral arrangements to make interesting composition. A seasonal, fall colour palette was used throughout for unity, and the texture of the gown and flowers made for interesting overlapping in the double exposures."
