We’re running a little behind with our ‘coffee date’ this week, but it’s worth the wait for this little insight into the world of Georgia Wedding Photographers THE HAPPY BLOOM – I mean just look at these beautiful images! This husband and wife team pride themselves in providing soft, light-drenched images that will remain classic for years to come. Read on to learn a little more about them.
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER? After exploring all areas of photography (yes, all! Seniors, babies, families, event, etc) we found ourselves loving the process of a wedding day. Yeah, they can be long days but we loved being with a bride every second of such a beautiful and important day. At the end of the day when the bride and groom hug our necks and kiss our cheeks, it’s just beautiful and rewarding.
TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR PATH TO GET THERE: We truly did our research. We fell in love with wedding photography but didn’t really know what to do with that love and passion. We followed the work of Jose Villa & KT Merry pretty religiously. Without knowing it, we began to fall in love with film. These photographers taught us everything that we know about light, posing and composition.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? Happy, Southern and organic.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT WEDDINGS? A bride by herself. Wedding days can be so busy and full of many people. When we steal the bride away for her bridal portraits, it’s so beautiful to see the bride relax and talk about her day. Everything is set aside and it’s just her and the day.
CAN YOU RECALL YOUR FAVOURITE WEDDING EXPERIENCE? This would definitely be from our first same sex wedding. Adam and Chris’s officiant was incredible. Ceremonies can sound very similar across the board. Many times couples don’t meet their officiant until the actual wedding day. Adam and Chris chose one of their best friends to officiate their wedding. The words she used and the stories she told were so personal and touching; both Amanda and I were sobbing in the audience (with everyone else!). It’s been the most personally written ceremony that we’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. And we’ll never forget it.
ASIDE FROM FAMILY & FRIENDS, THREE THINGS YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT? Sweet tea. Grey’s Anatomy. Our dog, Yoda.
WHERE WOULD WE FIND YOU ON A SUNDAY MORNING? We take Sundays pretty easy at the house. You’ll find us snuggled up on the couch with a cup of coffee and Mr Yoda at our feet.
HOW WOULD YOU SPEND YOUR IDEAL DAY OFF? We love being active. Exercising? No, not really that kind of active. But building a table? Yes. We love being in the garage with a new project or out back fixing up the garden. You could easily find us pruning the herb garden with a spiked sweet tea just about any Friday afternoon.
SHARE YOUR FAVOURITE IMAGE WITH US AND TEL US WHY? I love this photo below for its simplicity. With weddings and editorials, there is a lot of pressure to have a ton of details. But what about the basics? The simple? The things that are just innately there? We’ve been forcing ourselves to slow down and focus on the simplicity of what is already present.
