Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… The reality is the Sundays for photographers are often work days, but if I have a Sunday off then venturing on a nature walk together with my husband and our dog, or cooking something delicious at home and watching a movie sounds like a good plan!

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… It is surely hard to pick one, as travelling is true passion of mine, I tend to fall in love with particular places be it a street in Paris or small charming café in Amsterdam. Thinking back I will always remember this one time in Tuscany visiting a historic villa and spending the night in a Lemonia house on the estate, drinking red wine produced in their own winery all while sitting on a tile roof of the house and watching sunset over rolling hills of Tuscany. One word – magical!

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… Norway, to experience its pristine breathtaking nature. Even though Norway is such a close travel destination, best time to visit fjords and mountains is in summer, which for me is the busiest wedding season. So Norway is still on a bucket list!

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… Opportunity to meet people of different backgrounds and cultures, make new friends, travel, find myself in places otherwise not accessible if not for photography. I am inspired by emotions of my couples, especially expressions of love like random glance or touch. Noticing this, capturing the moment, showing them how beautiful they are, keeping that memory… is the best gratification for me.

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE/DO… Floral designer. It is actually something I did as a professional hobby for many years along a career in finance before becoming full time photographer. My appreciation of details in photography stems from the experience working with flowers.

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE… Two pieces actually! Firstly – enjoy not only your wedding day or wedding weekend, those fly by so fast. Thoroughly enjoy and celebrate entire wedding planning process. From making small parties upon completion or preparation of various planning milestones to keeping a wedding planning diary. Trust me it will be such an interesting read in a few years.

And secondly – searching for your photographer, always ask to browse through a few full wedding galleries. While Instagram and portfolio provide a sense of style, entire wedding from getting ready till dancing with various lighting and locations scenarios will present a different notion than carefully curated photos on social media.

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… Living in a city center with stunning architecture, theatres, museums, and restaurants at my fingertips within half an hour drive I can find myself walking a white sandy beach, hiking in the woods and enjoying pristine nature, at the same time being just two hours flight away from most European cities.

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… Home is home and wouldn’t move away permanently, yet I love travelling and spend much time on the road, always exploring or revisiting my favourite cities and regions. Photography work takes me to the most amazing places!

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? There are many favourites, yet maybe less known 1996 drama film Stealing Beauty by master of filmmakers, Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci starring young Liv Tyler among others, has my heart. Tuscan landscapes alone are enchanting, yet film have a very special vibe.

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… Antica Bottega del Vino in Verona and it was not only about excellent food and the largest wine menu book I have ever seen in my life, but entire experience. Together with two of my female friends we randomly walked into a lively place, the waiter asked if we had booked and my friend was quick to reply “yes, with you, just now!” The waiter was all smiles and managed to seat us after some waiting at the bar, although the place was packed and usually required advance reservations. That Tuesday night the vibe of the place, the people, the staff was just amazing.

THE PETS I OWN ARE… Adorable little Papillion girl named Masha, a precious heritage left to me and my husband after mom passed away.
