Justin Leon Brown

Graduating with a degree in Graphic Design from Auburn University, I pursued both photography and hand-painted illustration right out of college. I am a whole-hearted extrovert allowing me to connect to couples and families as if you’ve known me for years. I have a passion for photography and capturing couples naturally and always in their best light. In my downtime, you can easily find me sitting on my front porch rocking chair with a rye old fashioned in hand - my wife, Amanda, by my side and our three pups (Scout, Max and Cullen) at my feet.

Heirloom: something of special value handed down from one generation to another. That's what I strive for. I want my images to feel classic enough to stand the test of time but also organic enough where they don't feel posed or stuffy. If you're looking for a balance of wonderful classics and gorgeous candids - you've come to the right place.

Interview

IF WE HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT... outside. You can usually find us in the garden or in the pool with a margarita.

OUR MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS... definitely Hawaii. Kauai specifically. So quiet and untouched. My favourite place on the planet.

THE COUNTRY WE MOST WANT TO VISIT IS... Morocco! The colours. The culture. The texture. A photographer's dream.

WHAT WE LOVE MOST ABOUT OUR JOB IS... Photos are so important. We can all admit that we don't take enough. You only come to that realisation once someone is no longer with us - and your heart wishes you would have taken more photos. Our job is so important, freezing moments with family and loved ones. I'm so thankful I get to do this for a living.

IF WE DIDN'T DO THIS FOR A JOB WE WOULD... I could see myself as some sort of - live off the land hippie selling eggs on the side of the road - kind of guy. Haha, no really. I can see it. I still hope I become that guy!

IF WE COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE... break the mold. So often our couples feel like they have to follow a strict set of rules with planning their wedding, their choices etc. But rules were made to be broken. It's your one wedding day. Make bold decisions. Make weird choices. Make your wedding day YOURS.

WE LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE... of the trees. THE TREES! Oak trees and Spanish moss. After many years in the low-country we still love those trees.

IF WE COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE... exactly where we are.

OUR FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? Big Fish - easily. I'm a huge Tim Burton fan and this one takes the cake for me.

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL WE'VE EVER EATEN WAS... sitting in a small town in France. Couldn't understand anything on the menu. Just pointed to something. There was something so freeing and exciting about diving into the unknown. And the food was amazing.

THE PETS WE OWN ARE... Scout! He's an American Bulldog/Lab mix and he is the heart of our family (well don't tell our 9 chickens we said that!).
