A few months after we started dating, my husband left me a very sweet note on my bathroom mirror—the cheesy kind written in dry erase marker. In the note, he mentioned that the smell of honeysuckle and wine would always make him think of me. I thought that line had a nice ring to it, so I tucked it away for later. When I officially launched my photography business in 2017, the year that I married my husband, it became the perfect name for my brand. The origin of Honeysuckle & Wine represents everything I love about photographing weddings—the stories, the romance, the little things we want to remember. Connecting with my couples and celebrating alongside them brings me a deep joy that is hard to put into words!

My actual name is Camille, but everyone calls me Millie. I live in Jackson, Tennessee, a small town nestled between Memphis and Nashville, where I was born and raised. My love language is music, and if I could, I would eat ice cream every day. I love traveling and going on adventures with my husband, Josh—especially if they involve delicious food. I truly believe the best is yet to come. One day, I’ll have a rose garden and a big patio where I can have all of my friends over for dinner and games. But for now I’m content snuggling with my dog while I watch Outlander for the fifth time. When I laugh, my eyes get squinty and my upper lip disappears, but that’s okay because laughter is my favorite thing in the world.

I have been told I have a calming presence on the wedding day, and I will strive to be intentional and authentic as I share your narrative, because you deserve it. And I will absolutely cry during your ceremony. Because I will fall in love with your story as it unfolds, and will be there cheering you on every step of the way.

Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… I would start by sleeping in and having a big breakfast, followed by taking it slow at home with my husband and dog. Later, we’d go out for ice cream and end with an evening of dinner and games with friends.

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… my husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary in Paris last year. It was our first European trip together. Exploring the city with him was a wonderful adventure and we ate so much delicious food!

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… New Zealand.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… connecting with others while simultaneously creating art.

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE… music is in my blood, and I always loved the idea of being a traveling studio musician.

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE…don’t forget to celebrate the season you’re in, and continue to date each other in the midst of wedding planning! The engagement only lasts a little while, soak it in and enjoy the extra excuse to be sweet and mushy with each other!

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… I am surrounded by a rich culture of hospitality, art, music, the most delicious food, and untamed landscapes here in Tennessee. I really took that for granted, growing up in a small town, but now I wouldn’t trade it for the world. There truly is something magical about the slow, southern lifestyle and the comfort that comes with it.

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… Scotland. I visited in college and have been trying to find my way back ever since.

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? This is possibly the hardest question ever, so I’ll go with my favourite movie franchise and say The Avengers.

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… Uncle Dave’s past primavera—I can still smell the tomatoes simmering over ten years later!

THE PETS I OWN ARE… my husband and I have a hedgehog named Moses and a Cockapoo named Ellie Blue. Moses is basically a hermit, and Ellie is the sweetest bundle of energy and fluff—she will completely melt your heart!
