Hannah Alyssa

I’ve had the unique opportunity to set the stage in wedding and event coordination, and put pen to paper in magazine editing. Now you’ll find me behind the lens, taking an editorial approach with attention to detail and a passion for storytelling.

When I’m not photographing weddings, you’ll find me wandering through the cobblestone streets of Charleston (summer dress on, camera in hand) or planning my next jet-setting adventure. And while I love to find inspiration in exploring beautiful new destinations, sometimes there’s no place I’d rather spend an evening than cuddled up at home, record player on, with a glass of red wine in hand.

Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… biking around Charleston followed by acai at my favourite local spot or, if it’s a rainy day, cuddling up on the couch with a glass of red wine and my favourite record spinning.

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… running through the lavender fields of Valensole while traveling throughout France with my sister for the summer.

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… Morocco!

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… having the opportunity to capture meaningful moments in time that will be treasured forever, and receiving genuine, heartfelt notes once my couples see their images. There’s no better feeling!

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE… a travel writer or advisor! I am immensely passionate about traveling and nothing inspires or excites me quite like exploring and photographing new destinations around the world.

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE… to set aside time to have a private moment with just you two, whether that be your first look or sneaking away from the reception for sunset photos. The day goes by so quickly and you will cherish having that moment to pause, breathe and soak it all in.

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… Charleston overflows with the undeniable charm equivalent to a quaint European town. From the historic cobblestone streets to the blooming window boxes, I am constantly inspired and grateful to get to call Charleston “home.”

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… Provence, France

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? You’ve Got Mail

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… while traveling through France, my sister and I stayed at an Airbnb in Loire Valley that was straight out of a dream. The owner, Yvonne, lived in the main house while we stayed in one of the storybook cottages on the property. She served a homemade breakfast every morning that we enjoyed on the back garden patio with Yvonne and the kindest British couple who were also staying there at the time. I’ll never forget starting those sweet and slow summer mornings trading travel stories and hearing all about the French and English countrysides while enjoying warm baguettes with apricot jam, fresh-from-the-farm eggs and all of the fruit you could imagine.
