Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… it's probably safe to say I’d spend a free Sunday being in pyjamas at my house with my husband and son! Most Sundays we are at church in the morning, then go to a park or swimming in the afternoon. And pizza is ALWAYS a must for Sunday night dinner.

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… Oh man. I grew up constantly traveling with my family, going to new places and seeing new things is in my blood! Geography and Anthropology were the two college courses I dominated!

One that is up there in in 1996 when my mom and I went to London to meet my dad who was working in Northern Ireland. We met him in London first and as we tooled around that beautiful city we saw a mess of people in front of Westminster Abbey. So my dad asked a bobby what was up… Queen Elizabeth was about to come out! I was 16 at the time, and a forced to be reckoned with, so I made my way to the front of the herd of people and was able to see her as she walked right by me and in to her car!! (and thankfully I had my trusty camera to capture that on) I was quite bummed that she wasn’t in a gown and all jeweled up!! :)

Another is being in Venice with my hubby and sitting on the Grand Canal outside of our hotel, drinking red wine and eating cheese and crackers (and me eating a loooooot of dark chocolate!!)

And finally (trust me, I’m holding so many back) was traveling to Paris for the first time and hearing my then 4 year old ‘speaking french.’ He was so proud of himself, thinking he was speaking french, I didn’t have the heart to tell him he was only speaking gibberish!! He also was in a lot of selfies with random people he would talk with!

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… honestly, this may sound strange, but third world countries have always drawn me in. My heart breaks for children who are orphans and for people who suffer under injustice. Which actually, makes two questions down really easy to answer.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… the people! I’m and extroverted introvert! I LOVE connecting with people SO MUCH!

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE/DO… I have always wanted to work with a group like IJM (International Justice Mission) In fact I almost did that, but I had just gotten married and didn’t think I should leave my new husband for an indefinite amount of time. My degree is actually in Social Work. I spent eight years in that field, and not to sound prideful, but I was good at it. I loved being able to be there for people and helping them through some of the worst times in their lives. And help them recreate themselves. (And let’s be honest… as a wedding photographer… this background has come in handy many many many times!)

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE…enjoy being engaged! Book some big things up front, you need to do that if you have a certain time of year or date you want, but spend your time enjoying this new stage of your relationship. I think people overlook that this stage is so critical. You’re not married, you’re not longer ‘just dating’ you’re somewhere in between. Find out everything you can about this fun and exciting new chapter of your story!

Also absolutely hire wedding vendors you trust!

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… we have family nearby. It is so good for us, but also is amazing for our son!

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… iust at the bottom of the mountains of Colorado (So I can still be warm and not get snowed in on the regular) or somewhere in the southern half of France. I am so in love with the countryside and all of the history, and the unbelievably charming towns.

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? Anything that is black and white or has subtitles. And give me one of the Hepburns and I’m happy.

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… I am not an adventurous eater. I have lived 39 years without eating vegetables, which makes my brother, who is an organic farmer, die a little inside. So with that in mind… most memorable meal would have to be when I was having a massive meltdown at the dinner table and told my parents I didn’t want to eat orange and green noodles because they tasted gross. So my dad made a bet with me, he blindfolded me and my family fed me noodles from my plate, and if I could guess the colour correctly, my dad would give me a quarter for each noodle. Out of who know how many noodles, I think I only walked away with 75 cents!

THE PETS I OWN ARE… Zeke - a dog trapped in a cat’s body, and Titus, a spastic ultra-needy kitten who suffers from feline-colic and the worst case of FOMO I have ever encountered.
