We love seeing the process behind our favourite creatives, and today we're excited to bring you this behind the scenes by KATIE NICOLLE PHOTOGRAPHY of the very talented CORSIVO CALLIGRAPHY. Styled impeccably by RAE & MOORE the team were inspired to tell the story that goes into creating each fine art calligraphy piece. In a world that is full of electronic correspondence, Carmela believes in keeping the art of the written form alive. Each time she the nib touches the paper, she feels alive. She takes pleasure in creating bespoke stationery and art pieces that serve as tangible reminders of the important things in life: love and family. To her, they're more than just stationery - they tell your story.

Carmela became engrossed with the world of art and calligraphy as a young girl when she sat alongside her mother and nonna ("grandmother" in Italian), carefully learning to write each letter of the alphabet. She continued to pursue her love of the arts and literature by taking the opportunity to study in Italy both in secondary school as well as in university. These experiences contributed to the development and shaping of her passion for hand-lettering, calligraphy, finding beauty and inspiration in sculptures, architectural structures, nature, and the works of great artists and writers. The lessons she learned during those formative years helped her to become the person she is today.

The Italian culture, landscape, and rich history have always inspired Carmela. Thus, it was only natural that she chose the na me, Corsivo {cor-see -voh}, whi ch means script or cursive, from a language that she speaks and loves.

Carmela believes in working in a space that contains minimal distractions and yet is filled with inspiration. She surrounds herself with books of art, mythology, and words from some of the world's most respected writers. Her approach to each project is influenced by a quote by Renaissance artist and writer, Michelangelo: "Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is up to the sculptor to discover it." In discovering the story, the style of lettering, the brush strokes, each piece comes alive and becomes not only a stationery good but a work of art.

It's a tangible investment. It's an ode to a time when life was slower...when we chose to savour the simple moments and commemorate the special celebrations in a form that could be shared and relived with generations. It's about the care that goes into the formation of each letter. It's timeless. It's your connection. It evokes sentiments you might otherwise forget about.
