Jolene & Zander held an intimate outdoor wedding at BORDEAUX GAME FARM – a tranquil safari camp in the heart of the Limpopo bushveld in the north of South Africa, and had their closest family and friends along to witness the celebration. These beautiful images by ALICIA LANDMAN will have you wanting a farm wedding of your own pretty quickly!

Jolene tells us, “My husband is a farm boy and getting married during the hottest month of the year in South Africa there was no way he was going to wear anything other than shorts and flip-flops on our wedding day. Every element of the day contributed to the simplistic and natural style we were after and Louise the in house florist and stylist at Bordeaux did such an amazing job brining everything together.”

HOW DID YOU MEET? My husband and I have known each other for 10 years, we met in school where we fell in love. After school we went our separate ways and reunited shortly before we got engaged.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: My husband took me on a road trip to a small town called Belfast, we stopped at a beautiful mountain and climbed to the top to see the sunset – I remember how I still complained about walking so far and the grass poking me, but we got to the top and as we were about to leave he got on his knee and asked “so are you gonna marry me or what”. I was so surprised, and my ring was beautiful, I immediately said yes!

TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS: I loved my wedding dress! I had an idea of what I wanted and my grandmother is an excellent dress maker who made it for me. It was simplistic, flowy and had beautiful lace detail, exactly what I wanted!

ANY DIY ELEMENTS? Most of our wedding details had a personal touch from a us, a friend or family member. My dress by my grandmother. The stationery from a friend. Our wedding cake by my mother. The small potted plant gifts for the ladies I made myself and for the men my sister made “Troudoepa” in a bottle.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: The wedding flowers were perfect. With beautiful greenery and touches of white flowers it was the perfect reflection of our simplistic style we wanted.

FAVOURITE DETAIL OF THE DAY: Being able to spend the night with the people closes to us under the beautiful African stars.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OUT TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Choose vendors that understand you and your style and you will be so happy with the outcome! Also remember it’s your wedding day, you should enjoy it and not have the small things upset you!

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? When my groom gave me the biggest smile when he saw me walking down the aisle, I will never forget the look on his face.

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD
CHANGE OR DO DIFFERENTLY? No our day was exactly what we both wanted!
