Venues really don't come much more picturesque than PIPPIN HILL FARM in the heart of Virginia's wine country. It was an obvious choice for Spencer & Daniel with their reputable farm-to-table culinary selections and grand view of the Blue Ridge - also that incredible path of hydrangeas they are known for! ELISA BRICKER, whose work I'm always a big fan of, captured their beautiful celebration which was planned and flowered by MALLORY JOYCE. Together with Mallory, Spencer sought to incorporate details that would marry the rustic feel of the building with her own classic, romantic style. Her floral lace LIZ MARTINEZ gown served as the inspiration for the tabletop design; soft grey linens with a white applique pattern were paired with classic white pearl-dotted china and a generous amount of ivory and golden hued garden roses to complete the look.

HOW DID YOU MEET? Now living in Chicago, Spencer and Daniel originally met in DC when Spencer was assigned as Daniel's intern! A year later, they began dating and a few years after that Daniel proposed on Lake Michigan. When it came to the wedding, however, the couple had two things in mind - a beautiful view to showcase their love for the outdoors and an amazing menu since one of their favourite things to do together is try new restaurants.

DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY ELEMENTS? We did! All of our day of paper was DIY, including menus, programs, table numbers, and escort cards. I have my wonderful family to thank for all of their endless help to make everything perfect.

FAVOURITE DETAIL OF THE DAY: Our pup, Melo, in his handsome bowtie. Sadly we lost our sweet pup a few months later, but could not be more thankful that he was there to share those amazing memories with us. We miss you every day!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OUT TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Go with the flow and enjoy every moment of the planning process. There will be days where final decisions can feel daunting and pressure from family overwhelming, but at the end of the day, it’s about you and your partner and the choices that will make you two happy.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? My sweet sister’s speech. She absolutely blew me away with all of her kind words, love, and unexpected humour. The memories she pulled from across the years and the way she seamlessly pieced them all together, it was truly the best maid of honour speech of all time. I only wish I had recorded it!

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR HONEYMOON: We went to Italy and we loved every moment of it. We started off in Florence, continued to the coast to explore Cinque Terre, then a quick stop over in Rome, and finished on the beaches in the Amalfi Coast.

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD CHANGE OR DO DIFFERENTLY? I think the only thing I would have added would have been a videographer.
