You'd be forgiven if you thought you were looking at somewhere in Vienna or Florence in these images. That kind of old-world opulence is what we usually associate more with European countries than Washington DC. But this shoot by North Carolina wedding photographer MADELINE TRENT has us dreaming of far away lands - not to mention wearing a drop dead gorgeous gowns like this.

Exquisitely styled by Elizabeth of EAST MADE CO who tells us, "As soon as Madeline contacted me about putting together a brand editorial that was European-inspired, fashion forward, and basically the stuff of our romantic dreams, I knew that ANDERSON HOUSE in Washington, DC would provide the perfect backdrop. With postponed weddings and missed inspiration trips to Europe this year, we've been researching all of the gorgeous spots in the US that can provide a similar look and feel - and Anderson House provides all of this, right in downtown Washington, DC. Completed in 1905, the mansion's many ornate rooms, gilded filigree, and impressive antique collection transports us to the Gilded Age and sets an impressive and luxurious scene.

The fashion in this intimate wedding inspiration ranges from traditional to modern, from lace to feathers, and from VERA WANG to MONIQUE LHUILLIER to OSCAR DE LA RENTA. Inspired by the chic city bride who appreciates tradition and heirlooms, we styled and sourced the finest vintage diamond engagement rings and featured a handmade paper suite with luxe gold foil calligraphy. With the textural yet fluttering fashion elements in mind, the cake incorporated the movement of delicate rice paper, with lace sugar applique and intricate bas relief texture. The table design is the epitome of luxury, with gold metallic linen, multiple candelabras, lush neutral florals, and exquisite gold tabletop selections from Maison de Carine. After such an elegant celebration, what better dress to change into than the most whimsical, feather-covered OSCAR DE LA RENTA creation, with a high-low hem, and feather-detailed heels to match. Feathers fluttering in the warm breeze after a champagne toast with cake - the perfect intimate wedding day indeed."
