WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A PHOTOGRAPHER? I fell in love with reading as a young child. It was a way to escape an otherwise difficult childhood. I became enraptured by an author’s ability to spin words to life on paper. I lived in those narratives. Other peoples’ stories have always captivated me.

TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR PATH TO GET THERE. As an English major, I continued my childhood love for the narrative. At the request of my advisor, I chose a minor to diversify my studies. I don’t think she meant art ;)

It wasn’t long before pen and paper turned into a camera and a darkroom. I taught middle school English after grad school. With the encouragement of my husband, I turned my weekend side gig into a full time career. Over the last decade I’ve grown three little lives and the business you see today.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? Authentic. Genuine. Timeless. Relevant - never trendy.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT WEDDINGS? I love the small interactions you won't find on a timeline or the formal shotlist. I love the way a bride looks at parents and can see the familiarity on all their faces … the joy and magnitude of the moment. To be present in that intimate space - to capture it and retell the story for generations to come ...that is never lost on me.

CAN YOU RECALL YOUR FAVOURITE WEDDING EXPERIENCE? I was thirteen weeks pregnant with our second child. My husband, Patrick (and second shooter) who never cries appeared to be weeping during the father daughter dance. Alarmed, I ran over and asked him if he was okay. He smiled and said, “We’re having a girl.” I laughed because he comes from a huge family of boys … and the fact he isn’t a medical doctor or psychic ;)

Three weeks later during our ultrasound, we found out we were indeed expecting a baby girl.

ASIDE FROM FAMILY & FRIENDS, THREE THINGS YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT? Topochico, My little dog, Daisy and PASTA.
