One of my favourite parts of looking over weddings is seeing how couples make their day personal – the elements they infuse into the decor and design that have special meaning to them. For Morgan & Steve, being that he is a pilot in the US Navy, this plays a huge part of their lives so naturally using this as inspiration for their colour scheme made sense. Arizona wedding photographer ELYSE HALL captured these beautiful timeless images of their day which was held at THE LANGHAM HOTEL IN PASADENA, California.
From the bride: “Steven and I were set up by our childhood best friends who are now married, Daniel & Stephanie Smith on a long (Memorial Day weekend) of marathon dates in San Diego. Thankfully, the first night we hit it off and had our first kiss in the taxi ride home (I know, so romantic) from a country bar called Reds in Pacific Beach “where it all started with a beer!” (our first dance song). Our marathon of dates included the Del Mar horse races, a beach day, breweries!
Steve is a pilot in the US Navy and since that was such a huge part of our life I thought it would be fitting to use the US Navy colour scheme as our wedding pallet. I chose the design scheme of Navy and whites and greenery. My bridesmaids all wore a sequin covered floor length dress that was very classy and fit the Classic structural beauty of the Langham Hotel where we said our I dos. We chose the Langham because it was in the city where I grew up, Pasadena and knowing I may never live in that city again I definitely wanted it to be in Pasadena. Where I am from is such a huge part of who I am and it just felt so right. It was also hands down the most beautiful place for a wedding and could also accomodate our 350 plus guests! I loved how it has really simplistic green landscape and beautiful trees. To be honest, we didn’t even look at any other venues! It was my dream wedding spot 🙂
We had so many really special touches on our wedding day that just made it perfect. We stayed in the “Tournament of Roses” suite on the very top floor of the Langham, overlooking the entire city of Pasadena. he Langham flew the NAVY flag from the top of the flag pole just for us, which I thought that was such a special treat. Also at the end of our ceremony all the Navy guys who are close with Steve did a sword salute for us to walk through – I absolutely loved that.
The florals for our day we stayed with in the white and green realm. I loved the use of ferns and dripping florals from the centerpieces. It felt so lush while also being really classic and super romantic.”
