It was a case of New York City style meets Southern charm, when Ava and Frank brought some big city glamour to Charleston for their destination wedding at the beautiful LOWNDES GROVE. This New York couple fell in love with the venue with its tree-lined driveway with Spanish moss, capacious lawn, beautiful homestead, and pier leading out over the water. Along with chic modern touches like gold flatware, marble elements, and black framed lanterns, Wedding planner ALL WHO WANDER EVENT DESIGN ensured they included some sweet Southern touches, like a shrimp and grits course, Frank’s white jacket, and burying the bourbon bottle. Even Ava’s beautiful gown was the perfect fusion of styles – a full-skirted modern creation with a touch of romantic lace. LAUREN FAIR PHOTOGRAPHY'S divine images of their celebration have us wishing we were right along side them on this day!
Gorgeous bride Ava tells us, "We wanted white wedding flowers with tiny hints of off-white and blush, plus lots of greenery. We focused on using larger blooms like garden roses and ranunculus, with leafier greens to create a more modern, but still loose shape. The florals worked so perfectly with the floral watercolour bridesmaid dresses! Our florist, Michaela from DAYS OF MAY FLORALS, also created a beautiful installation inside an oak tree on the property that formed the backdrop to our ceremony.
My advice is to go with the flow. We had a huge storm come in just as our vintage buses were bringing the guests up the driveway, so we decided to do cocktail hour first and let the rain pass. This allowed us to still have the ceremony outside."
