Connecticut wedding photographer CORA JANE PHOTOGRAPHY had always loved the art of capturing moments and also had an appreciation for the technical side of photography. She tells us, "I remember attending community college classes when I was in middle school with my Dad because I was eager to learn more. Cameras (along with dictionaries and encyclopedias) were always at the top of my holiday gift list. Fast forward into adulthood after college, the farther forward in a more academic world I considered with continued education or additional degrees, the more I realized that path was not actually in line with the life I envisioned for myself and my family and it wouldn’t hold enough freedom for the things I cherish most: weekday pancake breakfasts, traveling on a whim, books on the couch with my littles at any hour, beach or ferry trips “just because” – the list of the dreams I had for our family were endless. My love for photography was sparked again and once I began photographing couples in love I knew I’d found my passion. Between the relationships I built and the diving into the challenge of learning the craft in a new way, I’m grateful my journey led me here."
TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR PATH TO GET THERE. The path to get here is full of others – truthfully, my success has had less to do with me and a lot more to do with the people I choose to surround myself with. I’ve learned and grown from the experiences I’ve had both good and bad and ultimately learned that showing up with an attitude of service outweighs the hustle always… but there’s also been a whole lot of hustle. A whole lot, especially in this first five years of business. I feel as though what it comes down to in marriage, friendship and business is that collaboration always yields an answer, and the process forward is always humbling.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? Style doesn’t explicitly pertain to how I edit, though that is a part of the equation. The way I show up for my couples is an integral part of my “style.” It is one that reflects the authenticity of the moment: both in color and emotion. While acknowledging the right now and striving to give permanence to experience of existing in this moment. I strive to create a warm environment and images that fill you with the feelings of home. At the heart of it – you should find your wedding photographs stand the test of time.
