Following their intimate ceremony rehearsal, Miranda and Barret exchanged not only their gifts to each other, but also exchanged their vows – privately before the weekend was fully underway. This allowed them a moment to really soak in the promises that they were making to each other and slow down the wedding weekend. After their private vow exchange, Miranda and Barret joined their wedding party for a boat ride (complete with dolphins!) along the May River to Moreland Landing. Immersed in the natural outdoors, guests enjoyed a traditional Lowcountry Boil and Oyster Roast and enjoyed the bluegrass band, throughout the evening.
Mother of the Groom, Kim had the perfect inspiration for the design, "Set your table for family and friends this holiday season. For us, the holidays aren't about the FANCY but the FEELING. Woven textures, natural elements, ceramics and just a touch of print create the perfect table for gathering together.” And so that is exactly what they did – open seating allowed guests to move and mingle throughout the night, green and brown elements were brought in the florals, linens and tables to complement the natural surroundings and a small pops of pinks and yellows added to the celebrations. The final touch to make the space their own, at the base of the treehouse is a destination pole that hung an arrow showing High Point University was 325 miles away, where their story began. This fun loving rehearsal dinner and their wedding that followed was captured by South Carolina wedding photographer ELIZABETH LANIER.
Miranda and Barret met their freshman year at High Point University in North Carolina. From a cousin's introduction and becoming neighbors a year later, a friendship evolved and continued throughout college. Although there is some debate amongst friends over when their romance truly began, they both agree it started in June of 2017 while they were living in New York. After long distance dating, a pandemic, career changes and a few moves around the country, the two settled in Indianapolis and Barret proposed in Tulum. He tells us, "I set a boat day for Miranda where I was going to ask her to marry me! Everything was going well on the boat until the crew decided to anchor by a rock wall protecting us from the waves. When the anchor wasn’t strong enough we started to drift towards the rocks, the captain immediately tried to move away from the rocks but forgot the rope was in the water. The rope ended up getting caught in the propeller which caused us to start moving very quickly towards the rocks without power. The crew of three who were on the boat with us, jumped in with knives trying to cut the rope and push the boat away from the rocks. After this fiasco, I decided it was time to ask Miranda to be my wife before anything else went wrong".
Miranda and Barret said "I Do" at the Somerset Chapel at MONTAGE PALMETTO BLUFF in Bluffton, South Carolina. Their ceremony was filled with messages of love, blessings on their marriage and a friendship that will continue to grow with them. As the couple left the chapel, officially as husband and wife, their guests showered them with cheers and a flower exit. White open air trolley's brought guests into the Wilson Village along the May River for cocktail hour under the moss covered tree's and later guests enjoyed dinner and dancing in a sailcloth tent behind the Wilson House Ruins. One detail that was most important to Miranda and Barret, was that although the event was Black Tie – they wanted everyone to feel comfortable as if they were hosting in their own home. We made sure the tent was bright and celebratory with fun patterns and beautiful flowers that you would see in their space; along all of the guests tables – vintage crystal salt and pepper cellars, a touch that speaks so perfectly to the classic hostess style that Miranda and Barret have.
Throughout the night, THE MAIN ATTRACTION BAND from Atlanta knew how to keep everyone on the dance floor – guests danced as they entered the tent, as they sat for their four-course plated dinner and of course well after the sun set. Miranda and Barret enjoyed a private last dance while guests readied themselves for a sparkler send off before heading inside for the after party and late night snacks. At the heart of everything Miranda and Barret do, they are truly friends. They support each other and lean on each other with every decision they make. They surround themselves with incredibly loving and supportive friends and family that bring so much joy and light in their lives. That is what their wedding day felt like; that is what their wedding day looked like.
